Have you ever
Have you ever done something for somebody else that made you so proud, just for them to knock you down and tell you everything you did wrong? thats what happened to me today at work. one of my favorate managers was up there working today, and she told me to go out and level the store, which means pull everything that people bought from the shelves and bring it to the front of the shelf so that all the aisles look nice. well, usually if you are fas,t, you can get the whole store done in maybe 2 and a half hours. well, since this was one of my favorate managers, i put in 140% effort into it and got the whole store done in one hour. thats 2 and a half hours faster then anyone i know. the aisles looked perfect. i got done so fast that i had time to just screw off and talk to people. well after about 10 minutes of doing that, i went back through teh store and did it a second time in thirty minutes. my friend asked me why i was working so hard and i was like "well for pride and becuase i want to probe to my manager i can do it" and hes like "well whatever floats your boat".
so yea, im showing him all the aisles i did and told him id give him a dollar for every 5 things wrong he saw. the aisels were perfect, he spotted 2 items that were misplaced. TWO out of the whole grocery store of like 1 million items. i felt proud of myself.
now it was time to close the store, this is where the manager goes through and does the store and everyone else who is closing has to walk the store and make sure it looked nice. well, since i had already done it 2 tiems, i figured id get recognized or praised or something and they would get out like an hour early. boy was i mistaken.
she had the nerve to yell at me for those 10 minutes where i was talking with some of the employees. i mean we were getting at it. she pissed me off so bad. i had worked my butt off for her so that she could go home early and i get chewed out. it didnt matter to me, i was leaving at 10:30 no matter how fast the store got done, but i put in that extra effort for her. i told her "fine, if u dont want me to help you out any more then dont send me out her anymore". and then she said some stuff like "u need to be focusing all your time on your work." and im looking at her in disbelief and said "THE STORE IS FREAKIN FLAWLESS" then she started saying more stuff to me but i just started walking off. then i turned around and said "u know what, im this close to just walking out that door permanantly", so then she said "i appreciate what u did but blah blah blah blah" and so then i said "uve gone and pissed me off. i get about as much recognition by doing my job 150% then i would if i didnt do my job at all". then i turned around and walked right out the door.
so maybe ill still have my job come tomorrow, maybe not. i could care less right now
