WEIRD holiday

Bruce and I are driving down to Vegas and I say "What will be the MISHAP this time?" Because it's always something, right? So far there was the time where the homeless guy was flung into the previous car and dented it, then the next time the city bus scraped the bumper, then my plates were stolen...and so on.

Oh no! I recently started taking bc pills after a lifetime of being afraid of the hormones, etc. I had a period for two straight months but things have evened out now. That's normal I am told but now I have this fear that at any moment I will start to bleed all over the place. It's annoying.

I recently mistook a woman who wanted to ask me about a bus schedule, for a panhandler. She was upset and I was embarrassed. But sadly, nine times out of ten someone approaches me on the streets downtown, it's for shady reasons. Sigh. I try to never talk to others, ever, at all - it's safer.

Yeah we spent the next day at another park and I totally couldn't enjoy myself because I was cringing in embarrassment at what they would think and wondering if we'd get charged for a really expensive replacement mattress and Bruce assured me it MUST happen all the time, which is true, but that doesn't make it any less mortifying. I shoved the sheets into plastic bags so the housekeeper wouldn't have to touch them and I was able to say something to her as we were checking out, and I made Bruce say something to the front desk so they wouldn't think it was a crime scene. God.

Unrelated (obviously) but I woke up and I'd forgotten to shut my computer down and the screen saver was cycling through; would that maybe help distract Zoe if maybe you put a laptop in her room at bedtime with one of those abstract screen savers as a night light, or would it be TOO MUCH of a distraction?

luckily my time of the month is marked by a pretty solid 14 days of pms leading up. pretty predictable! it's dumb because the actual time of the month sometimes barely lasts a full 24 hours.

I guess it's a tradeoff. When I was younger I had a bit of PMS so there was warning, but mainly cramps during the period. (One time in Vegas - I have no idea why but 90% of the time I'm in Las Vegas I'm having my period. What? - I was pretty sure just unbearable to be around and threw a fit because of something so minor I made him drive me to a 7-11 to get M&Ms and ice cream.) But the pattern was pretty consistent: I'd bleed for like 3 days, light or nothing for a day, then one more day. Now I have no PMS or cramps but I never know when it's going to happen or if it will be a 2-day trickle or a Carrie-like blood bath ( ... )
