We at
where_no_woman are holding a ficathon in honor of International Women's Day on March 8. Sadly, only one of the many prompts for Gaila have been claimed, and we would very much like to remedy that. The requirements for participation are very flexible -- you only need to write 300 words, and you may post art as well. I've put the prompts for Gaila behind the cut so you can see if you're interested.
1. Sweeter than honey from the rock,
Stronger than man-rejoicing wine,
Clearer than water flowed that juice;
She never tasted such before,
How should it cloy with length of use?
2. And in the gold and blue
Car you took me to
The darkest place you knew
And set fire to my heart.
3. Throw your dreams into space like a kite, and you do not know what it will bring back, a new life, a new friend, a new love, a new country.
--Anais Nin
4. "learned in both languages, she danced and played the lyre more elegantly than necessary for an honest woman."
5. This is just to say
That I have eaten the plums
that were in the icebox
and which you were probably saving for breakfast
Please forgive me
They were delicious
so sweet and
so cold
6. A fair and generous woman is (at best) respected, but seldom loved.
-Shulamith Firestone
7. When I'm good I'm very, very good, but when I'm bad, I'm better. - Mae West
If you would like to claim one of these prompts, please do so
in this post. You may also claim a posting date between March 8 and March 22.
