For the DeanCas Big Bang 2014
Dean and Castiel are considered starcrossed lovers in "Life of Cas", and I always like the idea of looking up in the sky and knowing your soulmate is looking at the same sky. Gotta say, getting the lettering right for this was tricky, I spend the majority of my time on that part. I put watercolor down for colors and then used artist chalk to get the shading and light effects right. Which worked better with the other piece than this one, so I put some Fixatif on top and then put some watercolor down to make the typography do what I want. I went a liiiittle overboard with the paint splatter for stars, but I like how it looks :) Maybe I'll touch it up in the future (Dean, your face hates me. So much), but for now I'm satisfied.
This scene is the first time that Castiel becomes a character, and the moment I read the scene, I was struck by the image I was seeing, with color contrast and shading and an interesting light source. I absolutely loved drawing this scene, and I think I drew half a dozen sketches for different perspectives. I really liked how this one turned out.
