Of Defense, Pain and Lust
I'm taking Self Defense at my college, and I wasn't expecting to get beat up as part of the corriculum. I've got bruises all over my arms and they hurt!! One of my friends thought I had been raped!
We do this thing called 'Straight Line Sparring'. It's where the class gets divided into two lines facing each other and we pair off and spar. But we have to stay in the lines, so we can't use the environment to our advantage. Which is part of my style so I was horribly limited. Then when Kung Fu Allison and Shinobi Daryl came at me, I came on a liiiittle too strong and they totally beat me up more than they did the other guys.
Daryl also asked if we had met before. He even named the high school I went to, but I've never seen him before. So, afterwards I looked in my old year books, found him and his last name, and asked my sister. My mom heard and told me she knew him! He had worked part time at the hardware store she works at and apparently he saw me three times a week when I'd go home from there. Somehow I never saw him, but he saw me. Oh well.
I'm also getting my orthodonture started. Yeah I know, getting that done in college? Aren't I late doing that? I was going to get it done during middle school, but my orthodontist refused halfway through to give me braces without giving me the $10,000 jaw surgery to lengthen and widden my lower jaw. And we didn't want that. I still don't, but I'm not getting it.
But today I got rubber bands put between my teeth. They do NOT feel good. At all. My jaw feels like the teeth are getting... pulled apart... which is technically what they're supposed to be doing.... Well they feel like they're working, and next month I'm going to get actual brace-band-pain things put in. During NaNo. Wish the timing was better, but I have to take what I can get.
So I went to Value Village today with my friend! I'm going as Lust for Sakura Con this year and needed a few details to complete the outfit, and he's going as Envy and needed EVERYTHING. Since Value Village is having basically a Halloween Sale, this was decided to be the perfect time to shop for everything.
I got super pointy high heels that'll some how get black tights stapled on top of (Stil not clear on the details), some flowers for my Aeris costume (White lilies! Now I can replace my pink sweet peas!), nails for Lust's gloves, and black hair spray.
He got black shorts that'll have to have the stitching slightly modified to make them tighter, a tight tank top that needs the sleeves removed, a black skirt that needs have stitching modified so that it's split on the side instead of the back, and a black wig that needs to be stylized.
That means that for my costume I just need to fix the dress I have, make some palmless gloves, do the tight thing and then I'm free to help make Envy!!
.... Okay that sounds like a lot of work. BUT IT WILL BE WORTH IT. Totally.
