Target Practice

Although Viktor had had extensive practice with a variety of weapons, he was still relatively unfamiliar with the standard-issue firearms used by the US Military; that was why he now found himself at the shooting range, hefting a small selection of guns and their ammo, examining each one for weight, comfort, and the ease with which they could be fired considering the fact that he had claws. The .9mm Beretta looked promising, and he raised it to eye-level before firing off a couple of experimental shots, noting the amount of kick-back and the accuracy of his near-blind shooting. Not bad.

As perverse as it may have sounded, the serious contemplation with which Viktor regarded each firearm was something of a meditation for him. There were very few times in his life when the feral felt relatively calm, but right now, surrounded by the steady sound of bullets being fired, he could almost relax. He even managed the ghost of a smile as he shouldered a rifle, staring through the sight and giving a soft purr of appreciation.
