Eat your heart out James Bond - (ota)

Getting out information to headquarters was more difficult than expected, even for someone who had plenty of experience doing it. This organization was so tightly knit Wade had began to fear he wouldn't be able to get out any information at all...but that of course was unnecessary, and he made his annual reports on time, keeping his cover.

Sarah enjoyed sunrises. There was something poetic about them. She wasn't rightly sure what it was or why she liked them, but she regularly woke up and slunk outside just in time to watch them.

More often than not, she wasn't alone. There were a lot of people who started their work out around the 5am mark, but most of them waited until 6, so there were never too many people around. But rarely did she see anyone just lying around.

She recognised him as she wandered slowly over -the soldier, Wade. She sort of liked him, as well as she could genuinely like anyone really. He wasn't short with her, he didn't seem to lose his temper all that quickly. It was something new for most around there -they were mostly a bunch of dicks.

"What're you doing? Basking like a cat?" She stood just a few steps away, not crowding, not getting too close. But she was mildly curious.

He should have heard Sarah coming. You know, super sensitive hearing and being an assassin and all that crap. But he had been tired and dazed off into his own little world. It happened from time to time, but Wade tried to remain focused.

Except for this moment he'd obviously messed up.

Stiffening for only a moment, Wade relaxed when he realized it was only Sarah. He pushed himself from the ground, back onto his rear, and folded his arms to his lap. "I was going for snake, but I guess a cat could work better, being the larger predator and all." He said easily, a smile coming to his face.

Giving a shrug, Sarah plopped herself on the ground, crossing her legs and shaking her head. "Snakes are slinky and slithery, cats are predatory and powerful -big cats anyway. Like panthers and leopards. Maybe a tiger." She gave a grin at that.

She could feel mild apprehension, but that was probably just because she caught him a little off guard -which was strange, for Wade, and she dismissed it. "You seem a little tired." And that was more than just her empathy telling her that. "It might be the super early mornings that do it.

Can't working out wait an extra hour?"

Wade relaxed, falling back into his normal facade when he could sense that she wasn't lingering on the awkward situation. Whew. It would have sucked to try and lie to Sarah, well, moreso than he was already lying to everyone else. But even with a silver tongue that came with his job Wade didn't like lying, it never led to good things. And this job? Well, given his position, a stack of lies was the last thing he needed.

"Predatory and powerful sounds awesome. No one likes slinky and slithery either, so yeah, lets go with cat." He watched her plop down to his level, his smile becoming more genuine. "I am a little tired. And, I think it is the super early mornings that do that."

Scratching the back of his head, Wade shrugged sheepishly. "Sarah, that's too much common sense at once. I don't know if I can handle it."

She couldn't tell lies from truth, but she could sense deception. Most people had an air of it more often than not; lies told from day to day, truths twisted and with held, the guilt that came with even the little white lies that everyone needed to stay civil. She tended not to mind, everyone needed a little bit of mystery.

Outright lies, she tried to avoid causing them.

"See, I like to lie in, but I like the sunrise. So, I get up three of the seven days to watch it. And sleep in the other four." Which she actually did. "It balances things. You need balance Wade, that's what all the training messes up. It's so routine."

Sarah hated routine.

Blinking as she spoke, he turned his attention from her to the rising sun. It had long since crept above the earth way ahead of them but it was still a beautiful sight. For someone who enjoyed traveling as much as he did, it was few times Wade was actually able to enjoy his surroundings.

When she'd finished Wade looked at Sarah from the corner of his eye, then back to the sky. Things like that reminded him of what his old sensei would tell him. And even while he'd joked, Sarah was right. He could appreciate wise words, deep things like that. However silly he may have been, it was how he liked to think.

"I'd like some balance," He said softer than he'd meant, leaning back against his hands that were propped behind him. "Sometimes, routine is necessary....but it gets in the way of moderation, huh?"

It caught her off guard, the seriousness, the tone. She was used to Wade being mostly business, although she'd seen that he wasn't always that guy. He could let loose and enjoy himself in a situation, but he was always fairly up key -never dour, not Wade.

"You should sleep until noon tomorrow. Be a little less organised. Be a little less responsible." Sarah liked to change things up, liked to alter the days. Things tended to bleed together for her -other people and their lives melding into hers and pushing her certain ways. It was probably why she ended up here. Not that she minded. She wasn't doing anything with her life.

"What was today's training?" Because some of them did so much training, running and push ups and sparring with their shadows. Sarah swam in the pool twice a week, and ran on the treadmills three times a week. But that was it.

It seemed like this was just the kind of day for Wade to not be himself. Sarah was more than observant. Wade was tired. But not just 'I could use some Z's' tired. He was tired of being routine like she'd said. His whole life had been a routine--a strict order of rules, guidelines, and steps. Always doing what he was told....and it was pointless. Even after fulfilling so many things, Wade felt at a loss. It was why after this job he'd quit ( ... )

Sometimes, responsibility hurt. It wasn't the responsibility, per say. But the oppression from it, the weight of it, the need to do better sort of aspect. Sarah hated the taste of it in her mouth. And that sense of confinement, she didn't like seeing. At all.

Sarah lived her life without confines, she just spread her little wings and went. Some called her flighty, some called her ditzy, she considered it just being herself -being free.

"You know, breaking away from expectations isn't failure, right?" There was something in the way that Wade said it, some sort of undertone of worry, maybe resignation, something that she couldn't catch without pushing and she didn't really like pushing Wade, because she liked him, he was nice. "It's just the opposite."

Her head tilted at the confusion from her question, eyebrows raising, but then, he said he was tired. Something was definitely off with him. "Wade, are you feeling alright? Not under the weather, no additional strain? You're acting like someone's following you with rain."

It nearly took him by surprise at how much she'd gotten from the little he'd said, but Wade remembered who she was and supposed that when he was guzzling out feelings...she was going to feel them. He might have inquired as to why she'd say such a thing, but Sarah wasn't an idiot and he wasn't going to play dumb. Wade let out a small breath, finally turning to look at her fully. "How so?"

No, he wasn't feeling alright. He was getting too comfortable with this place and forgetting his motives. Maybe it was because he hadn't really cared about the job anymore like he used to. Maybe it was because he'd lost his touch. Doubtful. Wade wanted this to be over with, but he had respect for his work, he never half assed anything.

"Am I being a Debby Downer? I'm sorry." He uncrossed his legs and let them sit on the grass in front of him. "Can't say I feel rain, but maybe the strain. But don't worry, I'm sure once I get some of that balance I'll be fine."

People often forgot that she was more insightful than others; her mutation helped her where her nature failed her. She was too much of a quirk to most. "Because then you live for you, you're not someone else's extension. It's all well and good, being a legacy, but only if it's your own legacy." People had issues with parents, Sarah understood that. She had some of her own, but those were never tied to her professional capabilities, only her social leanings ( ... )

And here Wade had always thought he was doing the right thing, the smart thing. But accomplishing things didn't mean he was successful. It didn't mean he was smart. Clearly, Sarah made a ton of damn sense, and here he was...feeling like a retard. That was obvious too. Routine had done that, made him not think. You didn't think with routine, you just...did ( ... )

Her grin was eerily huge; the wide spread of her lips, teeth showing, glints in her eyes. The way Sarah dressed gave her a doll like appearance, the way she smiled, like the world had just lit up, it made her look a little creepy sometimes.

"I try," and she did, blending to what people needed was a good way to expand circles, but sometimes blending just got so tiring. She needed to alter things, alter people and their moods. It was so much work for so little outcome, she rarely got a pay off. The ease of some people; like Wade, like Alice, like Julio, that was what she craved. Just the simple human contact and free flow of emotions -regardless of what they were.

"Promise not to tell, I might even sneak in and steal the clock, just to be sure." And then she'd need to make sure he didn't make up for wasted hours with extra time spent working out. "It's fun, you'll see. Just dicking around a little here and there." Sarah was too quirky for Captain Sykes to fully appreciate, so she regularly spent time 'dicking' around as it were.

He's seen many things in his time, a large majority of them being creepy, but Wade wouldn't bestow that title on Sarah. Especially not for her smile. Maybe because it was she was an empath, or maybe just because he liked it when people smiled, but it made him smile like a fool right back at her. He didn't really know why.

"Sneak if you dare, but I've got the reflexes of a cat, remember? I can hear the sound of a pin drop." Not really, but he was pretty good. And a very light sleeper. Wade laughed, shaking his head. "I thought that was Julio's job."

And if that didn't just make her stomach tingle with pride and her chest ache from happiness, she didn't know what it was. Whatever it was, there was a warm creep of something along her spine -it was sweet like bubblegum and soft like towels, she liked it rather a lot really.

"Empath," and she gave her head a little tap, "pretty easy to nudge you back over." And it would be, soothing any kind of startle until he was back in the arms of sleep, stroking in some comfort and contentment, it was something she practised on her Nana. "Besides, light as a feather, I am." Without her boots to clump, she could sneak with the best of them.

Shrugging her shoulders, she just twitched her nose a little, "Julio sleeps around," which was different, "I dick around, which is much less complicated and far more innocent." Flirting with the Mexican was one thing, but Sarah had a tendency to get attached, and that was a bad plan.

"Hey, that's cheating." He gave a fake pout, nudging her with his shoulder. But that would actually be so cool. To Wade, at least. He was always fascinated with the abilities of other mutants. It always made him feel a little bit more normal. "Actually, give it a shot, I accept that challenge."

Wade had to chuckle each time she said dicking around because yes, he was two years old. "Oh there's a difference is there?" He knew very well what she had been talking about since the beginning, but he was being silly of course. Speaking of not getting attached: Wade was doing a horrible job. He liked it here at MRE. He liked it a lot.
