The open space in the center of camp has been cordoned off for the last couple of days, Ethan has been over seeing as the ground is remarked with clear distinction of combatant training areas. Posters have been dotted around camp notifying the team that they are all expected to attend the team training days that are up coming. First of all is the

So about 30 minutes after lunch, Angel appeared on the field in her government issue workout attire and a ponytail feeling a little sleepy after a big meal. "What do you say we skip all this and go take a nap together?"

Knowing that the location is far from private, but private enough Ethan draws Angel in closer, pressing a soft kiss to her lips and resting his hands on her lower back. "Now, now Miss Jones, that's not in the spirit of team effort and equality is it? Wouldn't want everyone else getting wind that you'd gotten preferential treatment now?"

For a second, she forgets how public they were being and just enjoyed the kiss. Even pressing all those tightly clad, albeit slight, curves against him. She gave him the big eyes. The puppy eyes that seemed to fill up her face. "Maybe a little special treatment?"

"Come on now, you'd grumble if it were someone else getting the preferential treatment. I'll go easy on you, just warm up and we'll see what skills you've got to put to use." Ethan realises what that might sound like and flusters, coughing and clearing his throat. "I mean in the sense of what hand to hand combat skills you've got... not anything... you know what I mean."
This dating thing and not saying the wrong thing is going to be far tougher than he first thought.

Though he was pushing the right buttons when he said he would go easy on her. She wasn't super competitive. It wasn't like she would go all Tanya Harding on anyone but as someone that seemed to constantly be justifying her place on the team, it got her back up. She couldn't even appreciate how cute he got when he got flustered. And he was.
Giving her body a twist to stretch her back and hips, she then bent down reaching for the floor to stretch her legs. She certainly wasn't the most bendy person on base. That was probably Betsy with all her ninja stuff. But for a normal person and only beginners yoga Angel was pretty flexible. A fact that Ethan already knew intimately.
Once she was nice and limber, Angel bounced around in front of him like a boxer waiting to throw the first punch. "Now what?"

Next time he's going to make sure that these are held indoors, perferably nearer to the showers so he can urge Angel in there afterwards for a little one-on-one cooling off.
His skin might suddenly appear a little duller as his mutation kicks in but beyond that Ethan gives no other sign that he's using his mutation. "Let's see what you've got then. Try and hit me with your best shot."

Debating what exactly her best move would be, she knew his armor was up so it was likely going to hurt her more than him. If she was going to be effective, she was going to have to be smart about it. Maybe use the element of surprise. So in a moment inspired by the Three Stooges, she poked him in the eye.

"OW! WHAT THE HELL!" Ethan grabs at Angel's wrist, firmly but not too tightly as he uses his other hand to rub at his eye. "This is not what I had in mind when I said hand to hand combat Angel. Jeez!"
Rubbing at his rapidly watering eye Ethan blinks, trying not to laugh at the absurdity of the situation.

Even as she spoke she was fighting a smile to the death. And him fighting the same thing wasn't helping. Eventually, she starts to giggle and then it's all over from there. "Aw, baby. Come here." She chuckles and pulls him down so she could kiss his eye better.

Despite the fact he grumbled Ethan really isn't that angry, and he does smile as she fusses. "I am durable." He holds his arm up for Angel to touch and be able to see that his skin has become thicker and duller, it doesn't look drastically different though and to touch it feels tougher but beyond that the difference isn't too obvious. "If I'd had my eyes closed we'd have been fine but I didn't so you found a flaw in my mutation. Don't fret, I'm already well aware of it."

Her fingers continued to trace shapes along his skin. Up his forearm to his shoulder, then his neck until she was back up to his face. Her fingertips lingered on his lips before she went up on her tip toes to kiss them. Not as soft as the lips she was used to but still his. As she pulled back, she smiled. "I think this means I win the physical assessment."

Blocking each move with a practiced ease Ethan is mindful that when he counter-attacks that he doesn't use his full strength. He also lets Angel make contact on a few occasions, so he is able to see where he areas of weakness might be should she let her guard down.
By the end of their sparring session he's satisfied enough with her efforts and opts to cheat, darting in and using his mutation to his advantage. Lifting Angel up he swings up her into his arms and pins her so that she can't retaliate. "I think you've suitably earnt your green pass form for the day Miss Jones."

And yet despite all that, she still hated her morning run.
"Ack!" Angel cried and squirmed until she realized, hello, she was in Ethan's arms. Then she smiled. "Just a green pass form, huh? I don't know. I think I did pretty darn good. Good enough for something special."

Ethan really wishes he could skip out on the rest of the assessment but he can't, that's what being the boss man involves. "You staying in my room tonight?" He reaches over, brushes a errant tendril of hair back off of Angel's face and splays his other hand wide across her lower back.
