this sort of thing doesn't happen in conneticut [for Daken]

Following illness and then treatment, Spencer went straight to his bed and slept for almost a day straight before food became a real need. It was like going through the motions. He knew what he had to do ( Read more... )

Now that he was back to his usual one-hundred percent, Daken had several ideas that he needed to put into fruition. While several of them were on a large and grand scale, one was just downright petty. He was still fixated on Haylie and how she kept escaping his grasp. When he had told her he would hurt her, it had been no idle threat. He knew exactly how he would go about it too: hurting the ones she cared for most.

Seeing Spencer coming down the hall, he decided the best time to act was now, already having a good idea of what he was going to do. Blocking his way, Daken kept his face carefully neutral in expression, though it was hard to keep the amusement out of his eyes.

"And where do you think you're going?" His tone was slightly creepy and possessive.

"Um," it was like his brain just went off and screamed 'Holy shit! Run away!' at him in surround sound. The problem was, of course, in order to do so he'd have to go through Daken. Which probably wasn't possible. "To the cafeteria?"

It wasn't meant to come out as a question, but Spencer was still pretty sure that this feral was a loose canon. And not just in the school yard bully sort of way. Not from what Haylie had told him about the guy, and Spencer really wasn't sure what to make of that at all.

"Could you, I mean, can I. Excuse me?"

From the moment he'd walked up, Daken's pheromones had already been put into play. They subtly nudged, rather than anything too blatant, spiking the feelings of lust, while inducing a more sluggish sort of response in the rest of the brain.

One hand reached out, clamping down firmly on Spencer's shoulder. "No." There was an edge to his voice, something like a cross between a growl and a purr. It had been far too long since he had a new plaything to toy with. "You're staying right here."

His eyes shot from the hand on his shoulder to Daken's face and then back to the hand. It was like he knew it shouldn't be there and yet, there is was, on his shoulder, happy and at home. He should shift it off and move aside, but he just didn't.

"Oh, um," he took a moment to clear his throat, licking his lips past the sudden dryness. It was just discomfort, that was all. He was pretty sure. "I am? I mean, I'm pretty sure I should, I just. This is a hallway. You know. I need to-" Run very far away very quickly.

Only he wasn't. Damn.
