With Jack still locked up, Betsy was the one that moved his things into his new room. It wasn't difficult since she was just down the hall from him now. She was even happy to do it. Unfettered snooping was her idea of fun. She even snagged a souvenir. It was just a tee-shirt. Nothing that would be missed but it smelled like him; clean sweat, ( Read more... )

Jack was spending his copious amounts of free time in the brig reenacting the scene from The Great Escape involving Steve McQueen and a baseball. He'd convinced one of the guards that he wasn't going to somehow use it to escape or kill them. It was something to pass the time at least.

He did sound odd; strained but he had told her it was okay so she wasn't going to ask if he still meant it. Jack rarely said anything he didn't mean. When he wasn't angry that is. Of course, there was another reason he could sound strained. Alone in a cell gave him a lot of time on his hands. She would know.

Sure. I've got a busy schedule ahead of me. For the next two hours, I'm going to stare mindlessly at the walls. Then I'm going to count the flyspecks on the ceiling. But after that, it's anyone's guess. Normally, Jack wouldn't have been so sarcastic, but he was going stir crazy after being cooped up for so long.

He sent a thought to Betsy of himself tossing a baseball at the wall and catching it over and over again. Curiously, even in his mind, there was a lack of peripheral vision coming from the left side of the pictured thought.

What don't you want me to see? She asked suspiciously assuming the left side of the picture was intentional.
