Today was just one of those days; those rare moments where Haylie slowly let her emotional walls down enough that she could start to process the things she normally allowed to fester and stew inside. Right now, the emotions playing out in her heart were the ones of fear and heartbreak from the attack on the base. If she reflected upon it enough and

But the only problem with the training center was that it got crowded and was full of sweaty men. Just, ew. Wade liked being outside much better so once he'd done all he could in the gym he all but skipped to the outside training area to bask in the fresh air. Fresh, not being an understatement. Unstrapping his swords, he respectfully set them down on the ground before stretching a bit.
It'd been awhile since he'd practiced some of the old katas--his sensei would have his ass--and it'd probably be best if he practiced before he forgot them. They were really only for 'discipline' and whole bunch of other stuff Wade didn't think he needed on a regular basis, but, he didn't mind it for the moment. It was a nice day and a good way to

Jogging across the path to where Wade was stationed, Haylie decided it would be better to box up those feelings for now because she didn't feel like blowing up the mercenary even if some of the people wished she would. And hurting the teacher wasn't conducive to a rich learning environment. Sort of.
"Wilson."
Yes, she knows Wade doesn't like being called that. But she's a little too wound up to care.

"Is lost at sea, but easily replaceable because apparently all volleyballs are named like that." He continued on but kept talking to her once the kata allowed him to face her again. "I can get you one if you really miss him once I manage to get a nice little hall pass."
Or snuck out was more likely. And probably under a sheet in Mac's car, should she be true to her word. Wade doubted he'd get the approval to leave. But then again he really didn't care.

The comment about the pass, however, broke her concentration and caused her to snort. "Keep pissin' off Sykes and you'll never get one. Really, Wade, what's the deal with you two? I think the man's been through enough lately without havin' t'put up with your usual ... charm."

Even if he got stuck serving as distraction. It was a bullshit move, but at least he was there. Wade finished up the kata and let himself plop down onto the ground, letting out a good breath. The proper way to finish a kata would be to close his stance and bow. But they were not in Okinawa, she was not his sensei, and he was not going to bow to anyone ( ... )

Remembering what she was here for in the first place, she walked over to Wade and plopped down on the ground next to him, hand going to scratch at the scar from her bullet wound.
"I need somethin' from you."
If she had to guess, she'd posture that Wade's reply was going to be something sexual or idiotic. Or maybe even both, considering his level of special.

But the mercenary was surprised when she moved to sit down beside him. The confused looked melted off of his face as soon as the words 'need somethin from you' left her mouth, and sure enough what he was thinking was evident on his face. He had a hard time wiping the smirk off to compose for his sarcastic response.
Inclining his head into the side of his shoulder, Wade pouted. "You didn't just come here to talk with me? I'm hurt. All you women want is sex. Why can't we just have a nice relationship!!?"

Rolling her eyes at the smirk and his rather loud reply, she resisted the urge to just smack him upside the head and instead cleared her throat.
"I think y'know the answer to that already."
A pause.
"I need you to teach me how to fight."
Reply
"No, no I don't. I need you to tell me--" He shut up at her request and gave her an odd look.
She was in this base and she didn't know how to fight? Figured. No wonder their numbers were up and their strength was down. But her coming to him made him curious. "And why are you just now coming to this conclusion?"

Seeing that she wasn't an expert liar, she opted for truth. "My powers won't protect me all the time. If I can't blow shit up, and someone like Daken finds me without my powers again, I'm screwed."
Whoops. She wasn't supposed to say that 'again' part out loud.

However the information on Daken definitely caught his interest. "Figures he was an emo little racist. His sob stories can't get him a good lay so he has to try and pull the rape."

"How he'd even be able to get some without drugs or alcohol involved is forever a mystery." Haylie quipped dryly before looking over at Wade awkwardly.
"So, are y'gonna help me or should I ask someone else?"

Wade stared at Haylie a moment before sitting back again to consider this. His legs crossed together, his boots scooting closer to his body as he tapped his chin. Why oh why should he bother training someone....it could be fun? Yes, maybe. It was definitely something new to do. There wasn't any reason why he couldn't--sure he could make some up. Eh. Why not.
Finally he took his hands from his face and pointed at her. "Alright, but you want me to train you, you do things my way--got it?"

Studying Wade's reaction, Haylie was all but certain that he was going to refuse. However, when he agreed, she couldn't help but stare.
And the little voice in her head was telling her that this was a horrible idea because she was in Wade's hands, of all people. And she'd probably regret this. "Within reason, yeah."

"You'll have to train naked." He reached over to tug at the top of her military shirt. "The clothes are weighing you down." This of course was a luxury joke. But if she went along with it he wasn't going to oppose.

"Forget it." She snapped, look hardening as she glared at Wade. Unfortunately, she didn't realize that he was mostly joking.
