Let's go save Captain Stick-Up-My-Ass - open to those saving Sykes

What was really meant by the term extraction when referring to John was teleportation. He was their way into the camp once they were on the perimeter, as well as a scout for that matter, and with only a few hundred yards to go to the fencing it was easy to feel the team getting themselves all psyched up and prepared.

Unlike the others, Angel wasn't at all concerned about the teammates going on the mission with her. They were all on the same side. They all volunteered. Whatever their reasons for being there, they all wanted to see the Captain returned safe and sound. That was good enough for her.

The only thing that made her nervous was that most of them had never worked together before. She'd lived beside John, Jack, and Wade for a year but Angel hadn't even trained much with them all that much. In Japan, they were all on different teams. What if they just didn't work together well enough to do this? What if Ethan died because of their failure to come together? She wouldn't even let herself think that the man may already be dead.

"Wade." Angel gave him a pleading look. She knew humor was his defense mechanism but now was not the time to poke fun. "Look, I know we are all here for different reasons but I know none of us want to fail. If Ethan dies, we've failed. If we don't get him out, we've failed. If we die because we can't put our personal feelings aside long enough to work as a team, we've failed. Distraction team, I would start with something big. Get as much attention and man power headed your way that you can. We need it to look like a reckless grand scale attack. This is one of those times when their assumptions are going to work in our favor. To them we are arrogant freaks. If you can make it seem like there are more of us fighting than just the three of you, they won't be looking for an extraction team. So if you have multiple powers, use them. If you can set charges for later, do it. Keep them busy but please, please be careful."

Angel took a breath then glanced at the other members of the extraction team as she continued. "As for the rest of us, we are going to have to move fast so we don't leave the others with all the heat for too long. As much as I would love for us all to stick together, I just think we would cover more ground if we split up. Wade, you and Olivia are more up close and personal with your abilities. John and I are more ranged. So I think John and Olivia should be one team and take one side of the building. Wade and I can take the other side. Whoever finds Captain Sykes first can find a way to alert the other team. The less time in that place, the better."

Haylie studied Angelica as she addressed Wade, observing every interaction closely to get a sense for who she could trust out here, since Jack was the last person she would trust right now. And as she listened to the suggested plan, she couldn't help but smile at Angel. She was truly impressed.

"I'm with Red on this. I think that we're better off making it look like a sloppy attack from all sides. We draw out the brunt of their firepower and you guys find a weak point in their security and exploit it to get the Captain out."

Curling her fingers, the fabric of her gloves creaked when her hands balled into fists. Haylie took a moment to make eye contact with each person around her, silently studying them and getting a feel for who she believed would be best to look for if she got into hot water. She and Wade got along fine, Olivia was trustworthy for saving Spencer, and St. John was a pain-in-the-ass, but she knew how much he didn't want to be here and she was relying on that to keep him focused on the task. She didn't know John, Jack, or Angelica but John and Angel seemed to be good allies to have. She'd have an eye out for Jack when she could afford to.

"Wraith." Running a hand through her hair, she sighed heavily and kept her voice hushed as she addressed him. "I can keep 'em suitably distracted for maybe ten, fifteen minutes. But if they come at me heavy, I'm gonna have to pull out all the stops and it's gonna leave me weak. I might need your help gettin' out of there once Sykes is secure."

And the look she was giving John was one that said if things go bad, get Sykes out and leave without me. Because if she used too much of her power in such a short time? She'd be dead anyway.

Olivia had spent only a short while on doubting her sanity, for most of their journey she had tried to work out who she was traveling with. Angel was the one with the zombie book and Haylie left a nice hole in her bedroom wall during the attack, both of them seemed nice enough to get along with. As for the others... She had no idea who they were, what they did or why they were here. All she knew was that she had signed up for this and absolutely intended to do everything to make this mission a success. It would have been a different story if they had forced her to come here, she would have avoided any action to improver her chances to get out of here alive instead of plunging in head first. Right now, killing as many soldiers as possible on their way to find Sykes sounded good to her.

After successfully resisting the urge to punch her teammate that apparently went by the name Wade-though she might have laughed about him in a different situation-she listened to Angel intently. She did make sense.

Liv couldn't really add anything of value since she had absolutely no experience with situations like this, so she shut her mouth and listened to what the others had to say-definitely a new experience for her.

John listened to the back and forth banter and took what he needed from the conversation. It really didn't help that Pyro was so jittery, that Wade was his usual sarcastic self or that Jack was putting them all on edge. But the dynamics of the team couldn't be changed now, anyway Angel and Haylie were right. They needed to make it seem like they weren't as good as they are and even Wade had a valid point.

"I think Angel has a point an' her plan is the best we've got to go by. Wade might well be teasin' an' all but we all know the Captain is gonna be held in some place that ain't gonna be so easy to get to. Whoever gets to him first, radio the rest of us an' I'll teleport you out. I think we need to set a time limit though so that we ain't runnin' round wonderin' where the hell everyone else is." John glanced over towards the base and then back at the team. "If we get nowhere we meet back here, in one hour. Agreed. That way I can go back an' get anyone stragglin' behind."

And that last comment is aimed at Haylie. John never leaves anyone behind. No matter what the circumstances, that's just not the way he is. End of.

"We ready for this?"

Pyro didn't bother with retorts, he just rolled his eyes at Wade's stupid comment. By now, he was used to stupid comments from Wade. "Can we just do this?" After all, Frost had set a time limit before they had one and fuck if he was making his way back to stupid ass Washington on his own.

Splitting up was all well and good for him. The less time he spent around Jack or Wade was good in his books. Enough that he could amuse himself, act as distraction, avoid getting killed or captured and then get the hell out. Mac would be happy he'd even gone and he'd avoid her bullshit for another week. Good day all around.

Pyro had enough fuel to carry out his own fourth of July.

The mercenary rolled his eyes at Angel and her pleading look. He didn't really care but he shut up long enough for the others to get a word out. And long enough to unsheath his swords. "Ready? I was ready five years ago. When you guys are done with your tea party I'd like to get started."

"Sykes has probably been ass raped five times over by now, if we're lucky, and if we don't hurry well he may not even be lucky enough for that to be the only thing that's happened." Not that he cared if anything did happen to the Captain. But starting the mission would be nice.

"Say the word and it's done."

Haylie replied to John before turning and swiftly smacking Wade upside the back of the head. Most times his sarcasm was entertaining and a bit refreshing, but the latest comments about Sykes just annoyed her. And right now she was a little too concerned about the Captain's safety to put up with Wade being Wade.

Rolling her shoulders, Haylie stretched out for a moment before pulling off her gloves and pocketing them. The fabric would only get in her way when she tried to use her powers and she couldn't afford to waste time.

When it seemed like most people were good with her plan and ready to go, Angel slid the door open so they could all get out. As previously instructed, they were 5 miles from the base where Captain Sykes was being held. Wraith would have to transport them closer. Then they could scatter.

"Wade, you are oddly fixated on male on male relations. Not right now, but eventually you may want to explore why that is." Angel teased trying very hard not to think of the horrors Ethan was most likely facing.

"John, how does this work? Do we need to be touching you?"

"My God. Are you all done chitchatting yet? I'm dying of old age over here," Jack snapped. The hunter had only listened with half an ear as the team had yammered on and on about how they were going to rescue the distressing damsel. He didn't really care. He was here just to make sure the thing got done properly and maybe shoot some mutants if all else failed.

"This ain't the fuckin' Tet Offensive. Get in. Get out. Hopefully rescue the Captain before he's a warm body. To hell with it." He pulled out a gun, pointing it at the group of mutants, before he turned and swiftly fired off a random shot towards the camp. The sound was loud and clear. It wasn't entirely an impulsive move. He had been assigned the task of distraction after all. "That'll get their attention. Move it or lose it, freaks!"
