It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains. Never was the truth more plain than during the recent attacks at Netherfield Park, in which a household of eighteen was slaughted and consumed by the horde of the living dead.
"My dear Mr. Bennet," said his lady to him one day, "have you

Liv had been wandering around rather aimlessly, toting around a large book on human genetics. She needed a place to sit down, some place that wasn't swarmed with people and allowed her to study. The smallest sound could and probably would distract her. So she couldn't possibly stay here, with somebody else around, reading. Turning pages. Breathing.
She had been on her way out again when she realized the book title. It was so ridiculous that it sounded interesting again.
With a lopsided grin she leaned against the backrest of the couch.
"Don't worry, I won't eat your brain. I might look like a zombie every god damn morning but I prefer a good steak. Cooked."

Great. Mystery girl was reading something like super smart while Angel was freaking out over a zombie novel. "I don't usually read stuff like this. Well, obviously I do sometimes, but I don't just read stuff like this. It just sort of caught my attention. I mean who mixes Jane Austin and zombies?"

"I do look dead, I've seen enough of my reflection. It's all about the right amount of not sleeping, soldiers and comfy military vehicles."
Sparing a glare for the book she was carrying she sighed.
"Nope, haven't read that book. I did read Pride and Prejudice aeons ago and thought it could use some sprucing up. Definitely sounds a lot more interesting than genetics."

"I actually really liked Pride and Prejudice." Angel said quietly. It was one of her favorite books actually. "If you don't like it, why are you reading it? Are you scientist or something?"
Reply
"I'm just not a book person, you have to sit down and read them, not much fun in that."
She sighed and lifted up the book that felt like it weighed about a ton. It would one day serve a purpose and keep her warm when she found a fire she could throw it into. The thought of her being a scientist amused her greatly and she chuckled.
"Nah, I'm a biokinetic and so far I have used my powers intuitive, I just want to know what I'm doin'."
Threatening a guy to turn him into a girl was more fun if you knew you could actually do it.

Angel nodded though she didn't agree. To her books, were an exciting escape where she could go anywhere, be anyone, fall in love, steal a car, whatever she wanted. All from the safety of her sofa. Even when she was a kid, without a friend in the world save her Nana, she had her books.
"Oh, I get it. Learn about the human body and you won't have to fumble around when you're healing people, right?"

She wouldn't miss flashing everyone around whenever she bent over-but in the end that always got the attention of any man in the vicinity with the least amount of effort.
"Yeah, something like that. Since I actually managed to get rid of my glasses I figured I'd have to be able to do more. It's more effective if you know exactly how things work instead of just randomly poking around."
Trying to remember when she had last had something actually qualifying as conversation, aside from general pickup lines and smalltalk, the part of her that was still the young girl that had been taught manners decided to come to life.
"Oh, my name is Liv, by the way."

It wasn't that Angel was uppity with her designer brands. She shopped at thrift stores way more than she did at upscale shops but that just made those precious few pricey items that much more special to her. They weren't just shoes or a bag, they were hard earned little treasures she could wear.
"You fixed your own eyes? That's pretty impressive. I should stick close to you. I'm a little accident prone and I can't seem to go on a mission without coming back bleeding."
Angel facepalmed and immediately offered her hand. "I'm so sorry. That was so rude. I'm just sitting here jabbering and you have no idea who I am. I'm Angel, Angelica Jones really, but everyone calls me Angel. It's really nice to meet you Liv."

She did like pretty clothes, unfortunately she was rarely able to afford them-and having to leave rather quickly more often than not she had started to cut her wardrobe down to whatever fit into a duffel bag she carried pretty much everywhere.
"Well, I'm assuming that that's why they dragged me here anyway, to patch be some sort of team nurse."
Liv stared down at the offered hand for a moment and clutched her book tighter.
"It's alright. Uhm... I really don't like touching people if I can avoid it. I get all sorts of information I really don't want to have."

"We can certainly use one. Dr. Chandler is great but she rarely goes on missions with us. It's a miracle no one has died before getting back to base."
Awkwardly, Angel dropped her hand and forced a smile. "It's okay. Don't worry about it. Marie's not super touchy feely either. It's cool."

"I don't have that much experience with healing really bad injuries, but I figure if my mutation can kill people it should work really well the other way around, too."
She had healed herself quite often and found that it was relaitvely easy, so se wasn't worried about that part at all. She wasn't worried about going on missions doing who-knows-what either. That could be fun.
"It's a little like someone you just met telling you right away about the terrible divorce of the parents, how their sex life is and everything in between. I can't really switch that off. I can ignore it, but it's there and pretty uncomfortable."

Missions meant getting out of this place for a while, that was all Liv needed to know. She would deal with whatever came her way when it did, so far that philosophy had worked well for her.
She noticed Angel moving her hands and grinned. People usually reacted that way, those few who knew what she could do and it was one more reason to avoid them altogether. You could only avoid bumping into people for so long and contact meant knowing a lot about their bodily functions, she couldn't see how anyone would like that.
"Yeah, no problem. It's for my own sanity, too. Though I'm curious to see if mutants are any different from humans for me, that can wait. A long while for all I care."

As soon as Angel realized what she was doing, she instantly felt bad and brought her hands back to the front. She was the last person to intentionally make someone feel bad about their ability. "You've never touched a mutant before?"
Reply
"Nope, I haven't even met any mutants until now. Not knowingly at least. It's not like there are secret underground clubs for us-if there are nobody has let me in on that secret which would be a damn shame."
She hadn't even paid much attention to anything regarding mutants, she wasn't one of those that stood out and therefore didn't care what was going on.

Angel just made a face. "Actually... there are secret clubs. Secret schools too where kids can go to train and get a handle on their abilities. Once you're in, it's actually a pretty tight knit community."
