Adapting and adhering to the new rules set in place with the location change wasn't all that hard for Scott. He wasn't one to usually step out of line anyways ( Read more... )

It wasn't target practice that Rogue was partaking in. She'd taken a flight around the base -since the privileges were currently out of the question but powers were still right there for some entertainment. It was just too bad that as Rogue dropped back to the ground, Scott was in her blindspot behind some trees and the Southerner narrowly missed landing on his head.

"Oh, jeeze," quickly pulling up and back, Rogue pulled her legs back before dropping down a good few feet away, smiling sheepishly, "Ah'm sorry, Ah didn't see ya there. Gawd, y' good?" She didn't think her feet had hit him, she was pretty sure she'd had noticed if she'd kicked his head, but it was always polite to check.

He was in a slight state of shock after she was on the ground. Scott didn't expect anyone to be literally flying around the place. Actually, he'd never seen anyone fly at all before, so it was a little interesting. "No, I'm fine. Were you just...flying?"

Looking up at where she'd just come down from, Rogue gave a nod, "Um, yeah, yeah Ah was." She didn't realise that there were people in camp who still didn't know her powers -the fact that she wasn't a show off probably added to that.

"Part o' mah use." And only a small part of it. "Ah don't think we've ever talked or nothin', have we?" He looked familiar, Rogue could remember seeing him around here and there, definitely on the plane back into the States. But she'd never actually spoken to him.

Scott looked at her curiously. He'd seen a lot of people around the base or in passing, but just didn't talk. Lately he'd become something of a hermit. "I don't think we have. I'm Scott," he said while holding out a hand.

With a smile pulling at the corner of his mouth, he added, "And how is it? Flying like that?"

Rogue took his hand in her gloved one, minding her strength as she gave a firm shake, "Rogue," giving him a bright smile, even if she didn't feel very bright at that point.

"It's nice, it's kinda like being free, y'know?" Thief rang out in her head, but Rogue ignored it, use to the taunting. "Ain't like Ah can show off too often though." Because people noticed that kind of thing in the bigger cities. "Y' gonna so me yours or do Ah gotta guess?"

"Rogue?" He looked at her curiously before saying, "Pretty interesting name. Doubt anyone can forget it."

Scott gave a nod. "Free is a sort of weird feeling at first." He'd never been locked up for anything, but he knew what it was like to be held back. "Mine's uh... Well, it tends to wreck things." Which was why he used it as little as possible.

She tended not to share her real name, or the name she'd adopted when she took Raven and Irene as parents. Rogue was all anyone needed to know really. "That's the point, ain't it? Something t' remember me by?" Really, it was something she couldn't be traced through.

"Ah guess it could be, if y' ain't used to it." Having never been out-rightly contained, Rogue had nothing to compare it to. Before she could fly however, that was another story. Rogue couldn't imagine not having the power of flight any more. "Ah guess some folks would get a little miffed if y' went and did that."

And she could understand not wanting to play the show off card, regardless of the nature of power. She used Carol's powers as a subterfuge of her own.

Giving a nod at her comment about her name, Scott kind of understood. A bunch of the people around base seemed to go by nicknames or ones other than their normal ones. He never pressed the issue, but he stuck with his given name. What did he have to hide? Nothing, minus a little running away.

"Which is why I'm holding back. With the rate people are getting in trouble around here..." He'd read the memos that got plastered everywhere. Scott wasn't having his name stuck up on one of them if he had a choice.

"Gawd, Ah know. Y'd think we were back in high school," although Rogue couldn't really say much, just roll her eyes when she spotted something else Rictor had fallen into with his good intentions turned bad. "Ain't like we really got the room t' get in much more trouble. Or most o' us."

Rogue was one of the few, at least that she knew of, who had joined the team and stayed with them, purely voluntarily. She hadn't been running away from anything when she'd rejoined the group in Japan. Now she was there purely for Rictor and Martini.

"Folks ought'a think 'bout that before they get their panties in a wad."
