Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge - OTA

Unlike Zero, John hadn't set out further rules as to the behaviour he hoped (and possibly expected) for from his assigned team. Not to mention he was pretty sure that Jack would keep things organised around camp, seeing as he was well known for his dislike of mutants and the methods he employed to ensure he got his point across ( Read more... )

As far as Logan was concerned, nothing had changed when Stryker left. He continued to work his team half to death, but he liked to think he was getting results, though it was going agonizingly slowly. Supervising his team, however, meant that he was getting little exercise in - at least, little that did anything for him. It wasn't like he could let go when half his team were completely green. He wasn't keen on coming too close to letting go anyway. Not after what he'd done to Martini ( ... )

"I swear his voice is ingrained into my every though now." John teleported across the room landing one last punch into the bag before he appeared on the opposite side of the doorway, leaning against the frame and matching Logan's pose. "Just thought I'd try to get some peace an' quiet. What about you?"

Out of everyone in camp, despite not always approving of his actions, John had always had a lot of respect for Logan. He was mostly level headed, though occasionally he could lose his temper which was probably the key reason why Wade wasn't allocated to his team. Not that John begruded the man for having actually quite a nice team it seemed.

"That's really sweet you guys speak just as highly of me behind my back as you do to my face." The mercenary said as emerged from behind them. Yeah, he was a ninja. Though his business there was far from trying to be sneaky. For the moment.

Wade was however, looking for Logan and John. Or someone from the original team with a head on their shoulders that actually worked...which was, John or Logan. And how convenient they were both located in the same spot. But if one thing was to be noticed about the merc that was out of the average, was the side of his face, or possibly a large portion of the right side of his body was burned and/or scratched. He seemed to take no notice himself.

"Thought I smelled a tea party."

"Oh Wade you know we only say what.... Holy Mother Above what the hell happened to you?!" John started off in his usual calm and meoldic tones but as he turned to look at Wade he noted the burns and scratches. Well of course he was going to respond with shock at the sight of his team mate looking like that.

He stared at the injuries, taking a step closer to Wade and forgetting the fact that the loud mouthed ninja had snuck up on his as per usual.

Great. So much for some quiet time at the gym. Logan let out a soft growl at the unexpected arrival. He was not in a mood to deal with this right now.

"Fuck off, Wade," was all he said, barely glancing at the merc's injuries before he went inside, taking off his shirt and finding something nice and heavy to lift. The tingle of irritation running along his spine just smelling Wade reminded Logan how much he needed to work off his frustration.

As much as he enoyed the amount of loathing his mere presence brought Logan, Wade rolled his eyes, ignoring John's question about his injuries. "Someone needs to change their tampon."

Turning back to face John the mercenary straightened. "We've got a problem on our hands. I figured you two would be the best ones to inform, but clearly only one of you can let go of his dick long enough to listen without throwing a hussy."

Ignoring Logan (well trying to at least) John kept the door open to the gym. It wasn't often that Wade actually came to them and outrightly raised an issue. Obviously if he considered it to be a problem then the shit was about to hit the fan. "Aww hell... problem? With who? An' please Wade, don't talk about my dick. It's bad enough to have to deal with the sight of Ric an' Martini shovin' their tongues down each others throats at any opportunity. I'd rather not have to think about you talkin' about my... dick."

John wasn't moaning, merely making a request.

"Don't be so conceited, John, that joke was for everyone's dick." If Logan didn't want to listen then fine. The great big ogre could figure it out on his own.

Scratching at one of the burns on the side of his face Wade directed his attention to John. "Alyssa and I went out on a field trip and while we were in Kyoto visiting her old Master's house, the fuckin' mafia shows up and tried to blow us over the ocean and into China."

It wasn't like Logan could avoid listening. Not when they were standing right in the doorway; not when he could've heard them across the parade ground if he wanted to. What he was hearing, however, was only confirming what Logan had assumed in the first place: that Wade had brought this on himself. Wade got in trouble. That was what you got with people who weren't happy unless there were half a dozen bodies on the floor, or some nice, big, shiny explosions going around. It was bound to come back and bite Wade in the ass sooner or later, and Logan couldn't care less. It was no more than a guy like Wade deserved.

He got up off the bench press to stack some more weight on. "I hear Shanghai's lovely this time a'year."

"Logan." John didn't say anything more just glanced back at the guy wishing for once he could keep his sarcastic comments to himself. Sometimes it was like being a school teacher in this place.

Looking back at Wade, John pondered over the information for a moment. Unlike Logan he wasn't about to jump to conclusions, as despite Wade's track record he usually dealt with any 'issues' he had created without input from the others. Which is why it was so odd for the loud mouth ninja to be bringing this situation to their attention. "Why they come after you two? They anti-mutant or somethin'? An' for that matter is Alyssa alright?"

Normally the mercenary wouldn't give a damn about Logan's comments. He would agree to the fact that he got everything he deserved, and honestly he didn't care. But this time was different. Wade had never been involved in anything regarding the Asian mafia, nor had he crossed paths with them. This meant it was a danger to the team as a whole.

Again, Wade didn't care about anyone else, but if Team X went away, there went his current way of life. He wasn't about to let a good thing go. Rolling his eyes, he stuck his hands into his pockets. "I don't know, John, I've never come across them before. But they waited until we were desolate to attack us. Which makes me think they know where we came from..which means that they're watching this whole Team...and Alyssa is fine."

In spite of his healthy attitude towards everything Wade-related, Logan really was listening. Apart from the fact that he didn't have much of a choice, there was the fact that John was listening, and asking questions. And John usually made sense.

"You sure they weren't just after you?" Considering that this was Wade, Logan didn't feel the need to be subtle. Though there was another option too, of course. Screwing the weights in place, Logan shrugged his head. "Or her." Well, Alyssa's past wasn't exactly squeaky-clean either.

"I dunno Logan, if they were gonna go for just Wade don't you think they'd have made sure he couldn't get back here to get reinforcements. Maybe though..." John didn't know anything about Alyssa's past so he wasn't going to judge or pass comment on that front.

John had been pondering over if it was just a Wade situation for a moment but it seemed all too... coincidental. Though Logan was raising a fair point, John kept coming back to the fact that Wade tended to know his enemies and if he said he didn't know them? Well John was kinda inclined to believe him.

"You think they followed you back or what? You reckon they're watchin' us now?" John resisted the urge to scan the perimeter fence nearest them knowing the action would only draw attention to them.

"If they were just scouting for me I don't know why. Like I've said, I've never crossed paths with them before, but I can't speak for Alyssa." He snorted at Logan before turning back to John.

If Wade had a confrontation with the Mafia, or anyone, he wouldn't lie about it. He would boast. And he certainly wouldn't be warning anyone else for that matter either. But the man was growing impatient.

"I think they already knew we were here. They had to follow us from somewhere to know that we were going to Kyoto, because it was spur of the moment. So that means they followed us from here. Someone on the inside is with them, or tipped them off."

Logan snorted softly as he listened to the conversation. Somehow, he doubted that Wade could remember all his enemies. Most people the guy spent half a minute with got homicidal tendencies. Although, granted, Wade had probably killed most of them...

"Say you're right..." And, as far as Logan was concerned, that was very hypothetical. "If they got someone on the inside, an' they wanna kill us all, why don't they just blow up this whole place?" Didn't seem like that was their goal, then, but if it wasn't... what was? Did they want to lure the whole team out? Were they looking to thin the ranks, hoping to take one or more mutants captive, to create their own mutant fight squad? Logan found himself thinking along in spite of himself, his exercise abandoned for now.

John was trying to be diplomatic as ever, like a bloody go between trying to iron out the kinks and tensions between two highly strung and occasionally 'fists first, thoughts later' individuals.

He was also thinking along the same lines as Logan trying to work out who in the team has the potential to be a mole as such. Half tempted to voice his query out loud John thought twice, that would only cause tension and accusations being flung about camp. Not good.

"Logan's got a point Wade... not that I'm discrediting your point just why ain't they done nothin' to us yet then if that is the case?"

Why the hell did Stryker have to go off camp now?
