Now that they were finally leaving Russia, Martini found he was almost reluctant to leave the snow. Sure, it left him leaving uncomfortably cold and wet, and he did have to wear far too many layers over his gorgeous body, but he had come to enjoy the icy terrain. The isolation provided by the frozen tundra was something he would be sure to miss.
He stood beneath one of the many pine trees, ghosts of the past that only he could see flickering over the snowy ground. Echoes of the many events that had taken place over the team's tenure stood out before him. Some stood out with greater clarity than others. They all played out, simultaneously as he watched....
....Now, as they pulled up on the weather-beaten tarmac outside a collection of run-down concrete bunkers, snow all around them, Stryker wondered just how well those rules would hold up.....
"Heheh..." Holding several bits of cargo, Fred placed down some of those that were not his, rather general essentials for the team. "Whatsamatter, cold?"
...Logan'd gotten far enough from the buildings that he wasn't expecting to run into anyone anymore - everyone was always bitching about the cold, and stayed indoors when they could - when that was exactly what he did. He caught her scent just before he saw the flash of red hair....
....The Jeep finally stopped and the man looked at Jamie again. "You can get out now," he said and Jamie nodded, unlocking the door beside him and stepping out.....
.....With shorter legs, it was harder walking through all that snow. Betsy's feet weren’t much smaller than her feet as an adult but her legs were so much skinnier. Any time the snow got really deep it would slip into her boots so she didn’t make it far before she gave up and found a place to sit down and curl up.....
....Leaning against the wall outside the main compound, Ric smoked his second cigarette, wondering if he should cover the penis doodle that Victor had scribbled onto the cast when Ric had poked his arm through the bars with a pen.....
......She stood staring at the sky, it was dark and stars were clear, but Ophelia didn't see them at all. She just stared at one point, letting everything seep into her and through her and around her. There were memories again, and she wondered how long it would take for them to seep out this time. ....
......So it was a rare moment that saw Katie lounging outside in the snow, taking a break from the monotony of her day. Admiring the feeble, watery sun that attempted to shine through the clouds, she leaned against the wall outside the door and breathed in deeply.....
.....Smirking, smug and satisfied, Victor was enjoying the first chance he'd had for months to explore the area outside the buildings, trudging through the snow and for once not even minding the cold.....
He let them all cycle through, smiling wistfully, a look on his face that said he wasn't exactly there. Some bits of the past were good, some were bad, and some were downright strange. He'd miss Russia, to be sure. But it was time for a new adventure.
