Genius is a Step Away from Madness - OTA

There were some things Hope did not understand. People were one of them. The camp was just… suffocating lately. There was so much tension, so much fear and upset feelings she felt as though she had been dumped back in High School. Yes, admittedly, it was a bit more serious than that. Victor had sexually assaulted two women and she suspected someone was messing with the minds of the team, but honestly she didn’t have the patience for this.

Her usual safe haven of science was even tainted now thanks to her discovery about Dr. Milbury’s true nature. The man might have been rather brilliant but he lacked the compassion she thought was necessary in any doctor. Working with him in that little lab was just unimaginably tense. She needed to escape, somehow and there really was no way to do that when she lived in a walled, strictly controlled camp.

The best she could do was put on all the layers she had and go outside. She began walking around the camp, her hands stuffed into her pocket, head down to try and avoid the cold as much as possible. As a Southern girl, Russia was just not to her tastes. The only real escape she had was into her mind. By the time she started her second lap, cold was the farthest thing from her mind. Instead, she was absorbed in an debate with herself, hands gesturing wildly as she talked to herself.

The guards were starting to look at her sideways. Hope was completely oblivious.
