Because he can (ota)

Zero had been, for lack of a better word, hiding. Since coming to Russia he'd come down with a very bad cold. It obviously was much more than that because of his long absence. But that was all he was going to treat it as.

As soon as he felt better he resumed his normal duties. There was way too much free time around this place. Too much for the too ( Read more... )

During his exploring of the base, Mortimer found himself outside. The last time he had been out of the base was the day he arrived, and then he had not had the chance to fully take in the sights. A few birds flew by, and Toad fond himself wondering if one of them was that Amanda girl.

Wandering in the snow, Mortimer because aware of gunshots, and he figured that the moment he was feeling comfortable, of course there would be an attack. Slowly approaching the source of the sound, he came upon a man engaging in what seemed to be shooting practice.

"All right, mate?"

Lowering his gun when he heard someone approach and speak, Zero turned around to gaze at whom it was. One of the newer recruits. He noted his curious look and stared at his guns for a moment.

"Just practicing." He said simply before looking back up at him.

Mortimer cocked his head at the man and observed for a minute more before hopping closer.

"Mayhap you be the bloke what Freddy calls Zero?" Fred often spoke of his teammates, and despite all the arguments the two got into, Fred insisted that the guy was alright.

Zero watched him, steady as an arrow. He raised a slight brow before giving a small nod. Fred knew this man...ah. He was his friend he'd been referring to in the past.

"Mortimer."

Despite not always getting along with his stoic teammate, Bradley could appreciate his skills with the weapons on base. He had heard the deafening noise as soon as he stepped out the door, and followed it to where Zero had just finished shooting off a handgun. It showed how long he had been on the team when he didn't flinch with every gunshot, something the guys had at first ragged him endlessly about.

Seeing the pile of guns next to him, Breadley's jaw dropped. His voice held a note of amazment. "You plan on firing all of them?"

Normally Zero probably would have dismissed the question until he was finished with his round, but he lowered his current gun and turned around to look at Bradley. He was in a fairly decent mood. Obviously.

A corner of his lip rose slightly. "And why not? Do you know what these temperatures do to guns?"

It wasn't an arrogant question, only part of his explanation. He glanced down at the one in his hand. "They're not being put to use. It would be dangerous if one decided not to work when we do."

He watched with interest as Zero explained. Guns didn't interest him, but Bradley felt to each his own. He highly doubted Zero would have found technology as interesting as he did. "No, but I imagine it's not good."

"That'd would bloody awful." Not like Bradley was interested in going on a mission anytime soon. He'd had enough to last him a lifetime.

Zero knew this wasn't Bradley's thing, which is why it surprised him that he'd even asked. Much less had been speaking with him.

"Yes...Not that I mind having to shoot them though, either."
