Being in some God awful place of the Earth with God awful weather and God awful people could rank in the top five things that St John hates. That and winter.
So coupled together, they have to hit at least three.
He's pretty sure number one is being powerless. And number two is death. But it might be the other way around, depending on his mood.
With writers cramp in his hand and Jamie being a total pest for the most part, St John decided that staying in their room was likely to lead to the death of someone -probably Jamie, unless St John gave in and smacked his own head off the wall repeatedly.
Of course the mess hall wasn't much better.
