Despite the weird circumstances going on around the camp, Allison was happy. She was back on a team and things seemed to be going well. She was back with Manuel, and things had never been better. The link was back open, and she hadn't realized how much she missed it. She never had the phantom limb pain type feeling when it was gone, which was

He frowned and then nodded, feeling her panic and fear rise again. He tamped down the panic, then the fear, pulling himself up and guiding her along with him. "C'mon. We'll go back to my room." Shooting a glare over his shoulder at the MP, he snarled.
"What are you looking at, cabron? Get out of here."

Moving slowly, she clung to Manuel until they reached his room, then she shed her clothing down to her underwear and t-shirt, crawling into Manuel's bed. She just wanted to curl up in his arms, let the world fall away for awhile.
It was then, and only then, that the uproar started in her mind. How could he have known? He knew it from Manuel's perspective, like he'd been Manuel; he knew things there was no possible way any person other than Manuel could have known, because she sure as shit wasn't telling anyone. But neither would he...
"Fuck," Allison cursed, pressing her face into the mattress as she coiled into a tight ball.

"Querida. Tell me what happened."

But this was different... This he needed to know, simply because it involved him now.
"He was saying things," she said into the bed, turning as his hand pulled her hair away from her face. "Talking about things he couldn't have known and somehow did." Her heart throbbed in her chest and she moved into him, leaning her forehead against his chest. "Things about us, really intimate things." Allison shuddered slightly at the thought of him knowing about the mole on her thigh.
"I've had problems with him before, too." Her body trembled slightly, and she moved in closer to him.

"What do you mean you've had problems with him before?" he asked, his voice quiet and calm. Allison would recognize the tone. It was one he used whenever he was truly angry about something.

Allison went quiet as he asked what problems she'd had with Creed before. She didn't want to tell him. He didn't want to know. But he was asking, and the situation was just so fucked. "I... You remember in the gym? When we were sparring and you pinned me and I freaked out? He's why I freaked out."

He felt her tense and her emotions roared at him. He froze, cold washing over him, and he grit his teeth. "What. Did. He. Do?" he asked, each word bitten off. He could only imagine.
And he already wanted to kill the man.

The silence after Manuel's question rang loudly in Allison's ears, waiting for her to fill it with that answer. She didn't want to tell him. It was easier for him not to know. He didn't want to know. She felt like he'd see her as weak, even if she had been able to fend him off. Sighing quietly, Allison looked at him, biting her lip as hot tears broke free from her eyes again. "You don't want to know, baby."

When she didn't, a terrible feeling settled into his gut, leaden and cold.
"Allison. Did he..." he didn't even have to finish his question. Her tears were enough to clinch it for him. "Son of a bitch!"

It was handy, dating an empath. She'd had six months to deal with the panic and fear on her own, and she knew how long it took it to go away. To be able to lie there without shaking the bed with tears was a nice change. She curled into Manuel.
"I don't know how he knows any of it, Manuel. But he does. And now he can get to me again."

"I don't either, Allison. I'll find out though, one way or another." He murmured against her forehead, forcing his anger under. At least for now. There was a fine tremor in his limbs and he fought it down, wanting to be strong for her.
He wanted to kill that man, though.

She felt Manuel shake, and when she focused on the link between them, she could feel how angry he was. She'd been so wrapped up in her own emotions that her consciousness of how he was feeling had been lost in the shuffle. She slid her arm around him and rubbed the flat of her hand along his back. "There's nothing else we can do right now, mío." She worked up the strength in her voice and focused on her own calm.
"I love you. And thank you."

He locked down his own emotions, flooding himself with calm. Forcing himself to calm. It was difficult.
As she spoke, he inhaled slowly and nodded. He snatched that calm, using it to bolster himself. To bolster her. He didn't like fighting his emotions and he didn't like them controlling him. "I know, I know." he whispered, brushing his fingers down her arm. "I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect you."

"I'll be okay. I just... Wasn't expecting it, that's all. Most of the time, I can deal with Creed fine. I can usually ignore him, which I was trying to do tonight. He just..." She shrugged a little, then shook her head. "Just forget it for the night, okay?" Allison leaned in and pressed her lips to his, staying there for a long moment. "Let's just worry about us."
She was talking to herself as much as she was him in that moment.

"I know you can. You're strong. Stronger than me, sometimes." he grunted, staring up into the darkness. His eyes traced the ceiling and he turned his face to hers, returning her kiss with a soft almost halfheartedness to it.
He didn't know how not to be pissed right now. His anger was eating his gut. He wanted to go back out there, prove he was a man who could take care of his woman, and beat the shit out of the man who'd thought he could hurt her.
