Introducing Phobia [OTA]

She wasn't the kind to mind where she ended up, so long as it wasn't the end. There were options. With this place the options were limited, but still there. Limitations, Sin wasn't fond of at all, but it was a job, it was a place to stay, it was decent. She'd deal. Even if she didn't work for the Americans, even if she didn't rightly care for their ( Read more... )

He recognised her scent before he saw her. He couldn't quite place it, that feminine smell that seemed familiar somehow, but it brought back pleasant memories of sour wine, dingy bars and French cigarettes, better times spent with Logan and other drinking partners - and that's when it clicked. He knew that scent now, and it brought a huge grin to his face.

Strolling towards the woman, he smirked, genuinely pleased to see her - and that wasn't something that happened very often with Victor. Sure, the girl had spooked him once, but that'd been a while back - and it was better to start off with her on good terms here rather than risk her doing that again. Besides, he could do with having a decent drinking buddy again. Smiling, he walked right up to her, the tone of his voice amused and sarcastic - like it usually had been whenever he'd spoken to her before.

"Hey there, sweet-cheeks. What's a girl like you doing in a place like this?"

Of course, how could anyone forget the bulk, the fangy grin, that chuckle. Sin turned to face him and just grinned back. "I could say the same about you, toots." It seemed English would be her primary language then. Fair enough.

Instead of the usual 'hug an old acquaintance' sort of thing, Sin settled for a punch to his shoulder; typically a man way of not having an awkward personal space issue, but Sin had the same awkwardness there.

"Damn, but if I'm not surprised to see you here. They got good rates on the liquor?"

"How does 'free' sound?" he laughed, pretty sure that he and Logan still had a bottle or two stashed in their room somewhere. Kat had smuggled some vodka in for them a few days back, and he hadn't finished his yet. He gave her a playful swipe around the head with his claws sheathed, fluffing at her hair with a grin. That's what he'd always liked about her, the way she was one of the boys despite having a body that just screamed otherwise. "Guess you made Stryker's hit-list too, huh?"

She chuckled as she fixed her hair, pulling her red strands back around her shoulders. "Guess so," she grinned, "somehow they found me."

She wasn't really all that concerned with it. Less so now. Drinking buddies like Creed and Logan were few and far between. No one held liquor like those two.

"Your brother here too? Or is this you branching out a little, tooth?"

"Yeah, Jimmy's around here somewhere." Come to think of it, he hadn't seen him much the past few days, other than when they'd both bedded down for the night in the room they shared. Logan hadn't been too pleased about Emma coming to stay again, but since they hadn't actually been fucking yet, his brother hadn't complained too much. "You know I never could shake him off."

It was a joke, though, and she'd know it. They'd always been inseparable, Victor and Logan, even when she'd known them a few years back, and Victor wouldn't have it any other way.

She chuckled again, smiling ruefully and shaking her head. "Good old tooth and claws. I think I'd die with my feet up if you two weren't still bitching like a married couple."

Moral compass and free will. Or at least a drive to have it. You had to figure, being around that long, with just each other, like they'd separate at all. James would worry too much about Victor's habits, and Victor would miss the nagging. No matter what he said.

"So you guys are still soldiers, eh? Figured you'd have grown out of it by now."

There were few people Victor would tolerate that kind of attitude from, but Cynthia was one of them. Rictor, surprisingly, was another - but that was a different story. Victor didn't really do friends, but Cynthia was pretty close, probably due to her devil-may-care approach to things and the fact that she knew how to let go and have fun once in a while. Not like most of the women he knew, who worried too much about social appearances and all that bullshit.

"You know us, Sugar, we'll never grow up. It's like fucking Neverland wherever we are."

That was a close to the truth, with Victor anyway. James sometimes seemed his hundred plus years, at least in his eyes. Victor was still a kid in a candy store. Or butcher in a pig pen. You could never tell.

"So who's Peter and who's Tink?" While she was amused at the J.M Barrie reference, it didn't surprise her too much. So long as he wasn't actually referring to Michael Jackson's ranch.

"Okay, tooth, clue me in. What the hell's going on around here? Because these little military guys? Scared shitless of most of the muties." Cynthia had always been a little bit more of a derogatory towards her own kind. They weren't really her kind anyway. She just fitted into that slot nicely enough.

Sin couldn't give a shit if you were 'human' or 'mutant', everyone was fair game to her.

Sin just snorted. "It's easy to make anyone shit their pants." There was a coy smile on her face as she watched him, taking a little look to see if there were any new little gems in his head.

"You remember that, though. Right?" Games were games, and Sin played with anyone. At least anyone who wouldn't hold it against her for life. Well, most of the time.

With Victor, playing with his mind got him grumpy and aggressive, which was fun at the time. A few drinks and a tumble usually fixed him right back up. And he'd learned not to question her powers ever again.

"So who's the blond?" She didn't question the boy, could be his, could be James'. Sin wasn't about to get into the 'who'd you have a kid with' bullshit. But the female was strange, because Creed hardly gave a shit about anyone but James.

If anything, his smile grew even wider and he glanced away with a chuckle. Of course she'd know about that, it was something that played on his mind a lot, and he knew from experience that you didn't keep things from Sin unless you wanted her to pull them out of you by force. Painfully. And then throw them in your face.

"That's my woman. Emma."

It wasn't just that, though; Victor was still very, very proud to be able to say that the blonde telepath was his, even if technically, the relationship was more a case of him belonging to her sometimes. He'd fought to claim Emma in the first place, and he was pleased to have the right to say she was his mate - even if it did mean Sin was now off-limits for him, and she knew it now too. Oh well. It'd been fun at the time ( ... )

She only bothered to truly mess with Victor's head when he pushed too far, and if he was tied down, she doubted she'd have to push back too much. At least right now.

"Wow, got yourself a girl, huh?" Surprise, mostly because he'd settle for one woman, even when he'd been screwing her there had been other girls. Not that she cared at all. It was all tension relief. But it wasn't too far fetched, not if this Emma could keep up with him.

"You're not about to tell me that James has a pet chihuahua or anything, right?" Too much change, she'd die laughing at that one though.
