lazy man-child is lazy (OTA)

It was mid-afternoon and he'd missed lunch. And breakfast. That was fine. He was used to doing things himself anyway so, now, Jamie was at the stove, keeping his eyes on what he hoped would end up a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich and a pot of chicken soup. He had a bad habit of becoming mildly distracted and things burned just slightly. It was ( Read more... )

*Edie wandered into the mess hall, searching out an apple or two and to make herself a hot chocolate. As the water boiled, Edie turned and spotted Jamie. Leaning against the counter she took a bite of her apple. Once she swallowed, she spoke.*

Heya.

Jamie's eyes flickered up once at the person that was speaking. Long enough for him to recognize her as the weird girl from his first day here. Great. The chick that talked to herself.

Jamie stood and picked up his empty plate and bowl, having eaten while discussing entertaining ideas with Kurt. When he got to the sink, he frowned. There were several other dishes in there, none of them his. Jamie set about washing them.

"Good afternoon."

*Edie moved to make her drink. As she reached for a mug, she turned to Jamie.*

Want a hot drink?

"Not really, no," Jamie replied as he continued washing dishes, setting them on a towel to dry. This wasn't getting done fast enough for him and he was running out of room on the towel so, one moment later, there were three of him. One was drying, one was putting dishes away and the original Jamie was still washing.

"Thanks for offering."

*Edie nodded and finished making her drink. After packing away anything she took out, Edie moved to sit at a table, an apple in one hand and her mug in the other.*

How're you finding Russia?

Well, at least whoever this was cleaned up after herself. That was a bonus point. Maybe.

"It's cold, snowy and boring."

Africa's weather was nicer.

*She nodded in agreement.*

I'm sure just about anywheres weather is nicer.

*Most places anyway. She took a sip of her drink; nowhere near as good as Asher's. But the cold, though not exactly pleasant, wasn't a huge issue for her.*

This was the point where Jamie mentally facepalmed. Edie. That was what the girls name was. He didn't even remember. Damn.

"You mentioned Africa when we met. Shame I didn't get to go there." Oh, well. Not that Jamie cared.

He made his way to the refrigerator, digging through with a frown. No decaf soda? Seriously? Oh...wait. There was one.

Jamie grabbed the can, cracking it open and taking a sip. His duplicate started towards the door of the kitchen, peering down the hall. Jamie watched him warily, tilting his head slightly. Whatever the duplicate saw, it has his attention. The duplicate returned to Jamie, reabsorbed quickly and Jamie's eyebrow went up at what he'd learned.

He really needed to ask John who the girl with wings was.

"Interesting. So where are you from?"

*Edie nodded. She shrugged sipping her drink.*

Here. There. Originally, Finland.

*She travelled a lot, traveling was something she enjoyed.*

And yourself?

"Kansas." Los Alamos before that but Jamie wasn't in a share-bear mood. "Has it hit that point in the conversation where someone asks the obligatory 'so what can you do?' question?" Because unless it was an ability that Jamie could use in his favor, he didn't exactly care.

Depends. Are you about to ask it?

*Edie already had an idea of what he could do. The multiplying thing. She figured that had something to do with his mutation, otherwise, she'd been seeing things.*

Jamie thought about this for a moment and then simply shook his head. "Probably not just yet," he replied, smirking just slightly. Glancing at the clock above the stove, he straightened himself.

"I gotta go. See you around," he stated. With a slight wave, he left the room with his hand in his pocket, the other still wrapped around his soda.

Bye.

*Edie waved slightly and turned her attention back to her drink and apple.*
