Tournament: Round One

Nov 08, 2009 11:49

It was Zero's job to clear out the weapons hanger for the tournament. While it seemed like the most improper place for such a thing, where they were, it actually was perfect. The building was larger than any room in the dormitories and it had the most wide open space. All that needed to be done was to move the shelves containing weapons on the ( Read more... )

Gloria paced back and forth waiting for the hunter. She knew he was old but he also had plenty of experience hunting down mutants with various powers. She had her hands taped up and her hair pulled back tightly in a braid. Gloria wasn't giving him any chance to get a good grip on her hair to use against her.

She shifted on his feet waiting eagerly for the fight to get ready to start. She was prepared for just about anything the hunter could throw at her in this fight.

Jack walked into the ring, his poker face on. He was doing his best to conceal the pain he was still feeling from his injuries. When he had signed up for this tournament, Jack hadn't known he was going to be roasted by a pyromaniac mutant. But rather than back out, he let his pride rule his head, and insisted on fighting anyway.

His left hand was still bandaged up, and he knew it'd be practically useless in the fight against Risque. He sized up his opponent, as he stood there in a T-shirt and a pair of well-worn jeans. She looked like a no-nonsense type of fighter, more used to throwing punches then that frilly martial arts crap some of the others used.

The key would be to take her down hard and fast, and leave her no room to retaliate. If this got drawn out, Jack knew he'd be in trouble. He swung out with a hard right, hoping to catch her in the stomach.

Risque almost missed that he was moving the blow catching her right side her as she tried to throw herself back away from him. She got her balance resisting the urge to puke before lashing out at him with her right foot aiming for the back of his knee. She hoped she could destabilize him enough to do some real damage.

She kept her hands up, she wasn't going to give him easy access to her head and face. She didn't want this man taking her down.

Jack sidestepped the kick, but not nearly fast enough. It hurt like a bitch, but he could take it. He circled slowly, looking for an opening. He wondered if he could get inside Risque's head, find something that would anger her, and therefore make her less cautious.

"Not bad, girly. Not bad. Where'd you learn how to fight, Girl Scouts?"

He tried a few quick jabs, hoping to score a hit in between her blocking.

She scowled keeping her guard up tight. Risque knew that the hunter wanted in her head and she didn't want to give it to him. She struck out after his jabs hoping to bust him in his face. She started trying to push some buttons of her own.

"Not so bad yourself old man. You learn to fight from Methuselah?"

Jack blocked her shot, using his left hand instinctively. He wasn't able to conceal the wince on his face, the pain from his burned hand going all the way up his arm.

"You get points for using a Bible reference, however the age thing is getting kind of old, sweetie. Anyone would think you had a thing for older men, the way you look at Victor."

He tried kicking out at her ankles, hoping to knock her feet out from under her.

Risque grinned at the wince filing it away to use on him later. She was going to take advantage of his every weakness.

"You jealous hunter? Sorry I don't have much use for someone that hates me for my genes."

She stumbled and went down lashing out at his legs again with her own before she slammed into the ground. Risque knew she could have caught herself but hoped that he wouldn't expect her to strike as she fell.

Jack didn't expect the backlash from Risque as she went down, and he fell as well. Mind working around this new change, he flung himself at Risque, hands scrabbling to grab ahold of her wrists.

He was panting a little as he said, "Sorry, I don't get jealous of animals."

She wrapped her legs around his waist putting the squeeze on his ribs. He might have her wrists but she wasn't going to just give up control of this fight or herself. Risque tried to turn her hand to grab at his injured hand if she could get some pressure on it she could put it to her advantage.

"He was much better company."

The squeeze she was putting on his ribs didn't hurt quite as much as the force on his injured left hand did. He automatically released her wrist when she pressed on it. But Jack wasn't about to let her take control. He let go of her other wrist, using his right hand to give her a good punch to her jaw. That was going to leave Risque with quite a bruise.

"Why don't you shut your trap, you little slut?

Her grip loosened when he punched in the jaw before she put the squeeze to his hand again. She swung at his nose with her free hand. Trying to use her leverage to flip him over under her.

"Why don't you make me you old bastard?"

Jack was unable to block her punch, and the blood flowed from his nose. Oh, so they were going to play it like that now, were they? No more Mr. Nice Mutant Hunter. He tried to jerk his left hand away, and at the same time slamming down a fist right on the small of Risque's throat, fingers curling around her neck, trying to cut off her oxygen.

"Think I just did."

Risque took a raspy gasping breath trying to get more air as her lungs started to burn. She didn't know how far the hunter would go, hell he could probably kill her right now and get away with claiming accident. She could feel in her mind the moment she stopped caring about winning the fight and started to fear she could die here. She reached out with her powers charging the dust in the air itself flinging the charged particles at the hunter hoping they would be enough.

He had forgotten everything else. He was seeing Risque through a red fuzzy haze, intent on squeezing the life out of her. But the sensation of feeling something tearing at his clothes made him look up, just in time to catch an eyeful of dust particles moving at top speed right into his good eye. He jumped up and clapped a hand to his face, barely noticing as his clothes and quite a bit of skin got shredded by the minuscule flying debris.

"Fuck! My eye!"

He couldn't see a thing through his right eye, and was now totally blind. What the hell? He thought the mutants were forbidden from using their powers?! The thought never crossed Jack's mind that he had been the one to take things too far. He turned his head in the general direction he thought Risque was, snarling out, "If you blinded me, I will kill you. Slowly and painfully."

She curled onto her side coughing and panting as she tried to force enough air into her lungs. It took a few moments before her breathing slowed back down to normal. She watched him keeping still so she didn't make any noises until she was ready.

Risque shifted herself slowly onto her feet keeping behind him,"Next time you have me like that hunter you better kill me or your own clothing will become a weapon against you."

Jack could hear her wheezing, which gave him a general idea where the girl was. But then Risque's breathing quieted, and Jack jumped, hearing her voice coming from behind him. He whirled around, on edge without his sight. He glared at where he thought she was, which was made less impressive by the fact he was staring about two feet to the right of where Risque actually was.

"You can count on that, sweetheart."
