((OOC - open for all the new characters in case you haven't yet met the big guy or haven't talked to him much at all. That includes Rhane ^__^ ))

Creed was currently outside doing his thing. Probably making snow-assholes. Fred chuckled a little at the joke, but in all seriousness, Victor Creed was likely out hunting, and that meant that Dukes would ( Read more... )

Rahne was bored...so very bored. She couldn't let the wolf out to play for fear of being shot or attacked by accident and she was getting a bit pacy and a little hyper. She rounded the corner and slipped into the rec room, seeing Fred there. Slowly she crept up behind him until her head was brought to where his shoulder was, nearly putting her head on his massive shoulder as he sat there on the couch.

"Whatcha' eatin'?"

She whispered before giving an audible sniff, not meaning to give him too much of a start, but she couldn't help it. It's not like there were that many here that she could sneak up on that wouldn't hear her coming anyway.

The voice at Fred's ear was unexpected. He had not even heard anyone enter the room. Startled, he jolted in his seat with a yelp. Either he had been too consumed with his... consuming, or the visitor was very good at sneaking around people.

Turning as far as his huge size would allow, he recognized Rahne and calmed a bit, although still slightly annoyed.

"If you weren't a lady I'da kicked yer ass," he grumbled, trying to sound mad, though he was more embarrassed than anything.

Rahne couldn't help but crack into laughter at Fred's reaction and what he'd said. It was so worth it. Rahne made her way around to sit next to him on the couch.

"Aww, sorry Fred," she chuckled, "...just remember you can startle anyone but to actually *scare* them is a whole 'nother matter."

She hoped the words would help him get over it. She put her hand on his shoulder reassuringly.

This girl was awfully comfortable around Dukes. He cleared his throat and went back to eating, trying not to look bothered.

"Yer awful friendly for just meetin' me as of recent," he said, eyebrow raised.

Rahne canted her head slightly. That was true, and he had a point.

"Hm. True. I guess the wolf likes you," she grinned toothily. The wolf's instincts were always a good judge of a person's character and it liked that Fred was simple, honest, and kindhearted deep down.

She eyed the amount he was eating, knowing she could put away every bit as much if not more due to her high metabolism, and if she was in ultimate form, well ...she'd literally eaten a whole cow before, not that she'd dare say anything about that especially since it was years ago anyway.

"Wolf, huh?" He wiped away at his mouth. "Two werewolves on one team. Small world."

He noticed how the girl was staring at his food, likely the amount of it, and he reddened slightly.

"I, uh... don' normally eat this much." It was an outright lie, but he felt embarrassed. "Normally I eat just... one..."

Hell, that was bull.

Rahne laughed at the werewolf comment. Two? Ha. Tristan wasn't anything like her, it was actually almost insulting but she knew Fred hadn't meant it that way. The wolf had to laugh too, knowing it could whip that pup into shape in no time and have him on his back, pissing himself.

"Well, we're technically mutants, not werewolves. Besides, Tristan and Bane aren't the same when he changes, unlike myself."

Rahne didn't care at all how much the man ate or how large he was. She was the type that didn't judge on appearances or look down on others because deep down inside she felt like Fred looked in a way.

"Why not? I mean shoot in this cold, I'd be storing up reserves, but my metabolism is too fast. Either way I could eat more than you," she gave him a playful fangy grin, one slender brow arching at him.

Fred glanced at her, cocking an eyebrow. She was a small thing really, and he had no idea how metabolism worked, let alone when Rahne was in her more... primal form.

"I doubt that, sugarplum. Hope you don't take no offense, but... aw hell, I'll tell the truth. This lunch of mine," he gestured to the six sandwiches, reduced now to three. "Ain't nearly what I eat for lunch. I just know I'mma need somethin' else in an hour or so."

The red was creeping back into his cheeks as he spoke. He did not enjoy talking about his new mutation, let alone how it made him look.

Rahne looked kind of confused as to why that mattered as far as how much he consumed, cocking her head slightly to one side as she had a habit of doing (must be a canine thing).

"Oh yes I can," she smiled widely at him at the challenge. "And why on earth would I take offense? Hey, when you gotta' eat you gotta' eat, everyone has a different metabolism and needs as far as their mutations go, right?"

Her green eyes sparkled at him, wishing to give him confidence and maybe make him feel a little more at ease with her if not feel a little better about himself in general. Rahne knew first hand how looks played their role in perception and had a soft spot for the issue, and thus it translated into having a soft spot for Fred.
