Des and Nori. Dual Pup Post. (OTA)

Oct 09, 2009 18:38

*Des and Nori were in the kitchen. Nori was glaring out the window at the snow and Des was cooking sausage and eggs for the two of them. The older woman glanced at the younger girl with concern.*

"What's wrong, Nori?" Nori sighed slightly, pointing outside.

"The snow. I'm pretty much useless here." Nori looked at Des, raising an eyebrow slightly. It ( Read more... )

Martini headed into the kitchen. It seemed to be the only room he didn't feel cold in. His and Atticus' felt like the inside of a tomb, or worse yet, an asylum. He spied a new person by the stove, and tilted his head, assessing her. This one seemed oddly familiar. He wondered if it was the one Rogue told him about.

"I may be off the mark here, but your name wouldn't happen to be Desdemona, would it?"

He pumped her hand enthusiastically. Yep, this was the one that Rogue had told him about. His memory briefly flickered to a memory in Africa, comforting Rogue after the power switch, and his Things showing him a series of images involving Rogue, the Cajun, and a dark haired woman.

"Martini, one name only. You'll be the one who's put a smile back on Rogue's face."

He sat down at the table, and begun adjusting a few of his watches. Some of the more delicate ones had slowed down just a second or two in the cold, and that just would not do, oh no.

Always. And likewise. She never mentioned exactly what it is you do.

"Pretty damn cool, if you ask me. Not that I'll be asking for a favor anytime soon. It'd just make me nuttier than I already am."

Martini shudderd a little, remembering his breakdown during the power swap. He was about to wat, when something caught his eye. He began picking up and inspecting the silverware intently, not sure if there was something on them or not.

"Who, Victor? He's permanently in angry kitty mode. Not nice, but so much fun to play around with. And orange juice."

"Yep, that's him. And I can only imagine why."

He rolled his eyes as he quietly sipped his orange juice. He could see why Rogue got along well with Des. She seemed like a very decent sort of human being, a rarity in camp. He grinned at her question.

"Watch."

He upended the glass of orange juice in the air, slowing down as it fell, creeping as slow as molasses. He positioned the glass underneath it so that it would fall back in. Martini sat there with a grin on his face. He would admit, he liked showing off with his powers.

"Time manipulation."

He smirked a little.

"I like being unusual. Mutants who control time usually end up permanently lost in a time stream somewhere. Me, I'm just glad I'm not back in the lab or worse."

He tilted his head curiously at her remark of sensing mutants.

"So, can you like tell how many mutants there here right now?"

"Uh-huh. Seems a bit like overkill."

He shrugged, going back to drinking now that his little demonstration was done. He was still inspecting the silverware, not sure what was going on with it. He was long overdue on his meds, and it was beginning to show again.

"Most of the time, I stay outta their way. They're too predictable in their moods. to keep me entertained for long."

"An ice maker?"

Martii thought for a moment. He hadn't spoken to everyone, but he knew most by sight already, if not by name and personality. He went through all the faces in his mind, but none stood out.

"Dunno. Either someone has a secondary mutation, or its one of the new arrivals. But I've been with 'em a good coupla months now, and haven't seen anyone with that."
