Eighteen months

I'm 25 years old with a GED, almost no college experience, no special licenses, no marketable experience whatsoever, but never had a problem finding work that satisfied me. From my first to my last job, I never had to go more than two weeks unemployed. Literally every time I'd apply for a new job, I'd get interviewed and hired. They always liked my personality and clean lifestyle, and I was content living off part-time retail and office assistant jobs.

In December 2007, I had to move from Maryland to Florida on short notice and thought for sure I'd get another of these simple jobs in no time. It has now been eighteen months of applying for several businesses a week without even a single call back, I can't believe it. I follow up on my applications with phone calls and just end up getting on their nerves. "We'll call you if we get to you" is what I hear almost every other day now. I must be up to several hundred attempts!

One reason I never went to college was that my only true educational passion, Entomology, would probably not get me much of a job (I have a fear of wasting effort and everywhere I look I see people with great degrees that did nothing for them) and I doubt I could even make it through the course. I guess I should have at least gotten something generic, though. I'm close to just taking classes for some of the money I could get, as my Unemployment and food stamps run out in three more months and I could end up homeless. I really don't know what else I can do. I have NO standards, I've even tried Wal-Mart and Mcdonalds over and over, and still no responses. Is it my age? Just bad luck?

There's certainly nothing negative about me, I've never drank in my life, can pass a drug test easy, have never been fired or even reprimanded for anything, never even gotten a parking ticket. I just don't stand out in any positive manner either.
