Unemployment, Job Hunting, & The Library

Jul 02, 2009 18:44

Hi, I'm a librarian in New Jersey. I'm hoping for some crowdsourcing in getting some answers as to how better to serve the unemployed who come to the library. While my library and library system are adding programs to help people, there is always more things we can do to help. (I do a Job 1 on 1 program where I sit down with people and help them with whatever they need; other branches have programs on resumes, interviewing, and job hunting.) Please take a moment to answer a few questions to help me help others.

(1) Do you use the library for job hunting? Why/why not?
(If no, please skip to 4)

(2) What resources helps you the most? (internet use, job listings, staff support, etc)

(3) What resources help you the least?

(4) What would you like to see at your library to help you with your job search?
(This is the brass ring, so don't hold back.)

Thanks for your input.

(Mods, if you think this is not the right type of post for this community, please remove and accept my apologies. I think this is an awesome idea for a community and would like to help out as much as I can.)
