Hi Everyone,
I need some advice on how to best answer the "name of your supervisor" and "may we contact your former supervisor" question on job applications in the following scenarios.
Scenario 1
My last company refers everything to the human resources director. She wasn't my last supervisor so I don't want to get jammed on the possibility of lying on my application for using her name as my former supervisor but I don't want to waste anyone's time by sending them to my former supervisor who maybe traveling knowing she's going to forward the request to HR.
When there is room I give my supervisor's name and the HR director's name with instructions to contact HR. Sadly most online applications aren't that flexible.
Scenario 2
This company sends all employment verification request through a 3rd party. Most online applications don't have room to list that toll free number and company code. I've been giving my former supervisor's name and his number but he's lazy and probably deletes any voice mail he receives.
I don't want to put no you can't contact the supervisors for my last two jobs because that doesn't look very good. Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks
