Last week I sent the resume to a likely looking position for video conferencing customer service. Today I get a call from a guy. He starts off with 'I have your resume in front of me, but I want to go over it with you.' Okay, fair enough. First thing he asks me is 'What sort of education do you have?'
It states very clearly on my resume that I have 2 years of college at National American University. I tell him this anyway, along with my major and the reason I only did two years. I also state I am considering returning to school, but I want to be employed first.
Then he asks me about what I have done the last few years. Again, says it right there, everything you'd want to know. But I tell him anyay, blah did this, that the other thing, blah blah accomplishments.
He then asks me "How would you rate your tech ability?" I tell him 'Well, if 1 is nothing, and 10 is I can write my own programs, I rate myself about a 6'.
Finally he says "Well, at this stage we're just collecting resumes, we'll call you if something opens up."
All of that just because you're collecting resumes? Either this is a new one on me, or it was a variation of the 'Calling to con you into going back to school and there really isn't a job' routine.
