My initial response is, of course, to balk. I know I shouldn't as I have done volunteering that's turn profitable before. I know that volunteering has tremendous benefits beyond the possibility of finding a job. It's just hard to get my head wrapped around the idea of it again.

The Tutoring for my college was actually a 2 yr stint of nothing but volunteering my time and effort. After which they decided to start paying me. I did the same in High School with my school Library. I've never done it as a designer though... it's thought provoking.

I think that the bulk of the balk is based on my general inability to do any sort of artwork-like-anything with my son around. If I fall out of the point of focus it takes me forever in getting back into the "jive" of a piece of work. I have pieces that are unfinished illustrations that are, exactly, 3 yrs old now.

The saying goes that no matter how prepared on is for the realities of rearing your own kid, one is never truly prepared. It takes such time, commitment, energy, and brain power to keep up with a child, it can be overwhelming at times.

But the suggestion has, however, reminded me that I have a 10yr old who is out of school..... *shifty eyes* I may have the time I need now. heh.

Thank you for the reminder!
