"Were you ever discharged from any company?"
So I'm sure we've all come across the applications that ask you if you've ever been "discharged" from a company's employ. I'd always assumed that it's asking if you were fired, and since I've never been fired I've always been checking no. But I read a column here earlier tonight that said that being laid off would count as being discharged (it's a ways down on the page). There are a lot of disagreements about how the "work world" actually works, though--anyone have any thoughts on this?
