Hi guys, I graduated college in 2007 during the horrible start of the market downturn. I finished school with a solid GPA but with a "worthless" degree. Bachelor of Science in History and Public Policy. I got it because I loved history, but I sucked at everything else. I know exactly how you feel. I went down the same path you did (biology/ecology, master's in environmental sciences, from an Ivy League even!), I did internships (well, REUs, but they're the same thing, and they even paid money!) and a year later, I'm still jobless. I've had interviews in my field that turn out nothing (or worse, they tell me, oh we hired someone else--what you did wasn't really an interview it was a site visitation, but if we have a second position come up, we'll hire you for sure. A month later, that one still chaps my ass the most) and I can't even get looked at for stuff outside of my field--yes, even retail and fast food work won't hire me. What the hell did I go to school for then, right?

So, I've been there. But unfortunately, you can't give up the search because then you feel worse about, well, everything. And unless one of your previous apps comes through, then you're still in the same place you started. I don't really have any practical advice (assuming you want some) other than if you're really at that point, you might want to look into low-cost mental health clinics for some counseling. Or just to have someone to vent to--the internet can be a little impersonal sometimes and eventually your friends/parents/what-have-you get tired of listening.
