Prompt: 001. Phobia Rating/Warnings(if any):G/ None Word Count: 101
It wasn't as if he was really and truly afraid, there wasn't hardly anything Eliot Spencer was afraid of. He could do heights; no problem, dark places; for him the darker the place the better, bugs and insects were fine too; he didn't get the creepy crawlies, and needles definitely weren't a problem for someone who made their living as a hitter. The one phobia Eliot had though, the one thing he knew he was afraid of was not something you could cure, either mentally or even by hypnosis. The one thing Eliot feared above all else was not being there.
The word addict was such a strong one, it brought to mind bad things. When you used that word you thought of people addicted to drugs or alcohol or something illegal even. Hardison definitely didn't consider what he was addicted to as bad. How could something so wonderful be so bad for you? Okay well maybe that wasn't such a stretch; there were lots of things that were wonderful and bad for you. But the internet? It certainly wasn't bad for you. Well unless you used it wrong, which he didn't. Well he didn't all the time that is. Oh no! He was an addict. He was addicted to the internet! Hello my name is Alec Hardison and I'm a world wide web addict.

Someone was singing out at the bar. Eliot heard it as he went to deliver a plate to the bar. There was always some sort of music playing over the speakers but most of the time it was soft as not to interfere with customer conversations. But the short blond woman nursing a beer was softly singing along with the music. It was an older tune yet one Eliot knew. Jack was working the bar that day and he liked to play bluesy music. He could hear a little Ella Fitzgerald yet it was the soft voice of the sad looking woman singing along that held him mesmerized. He stood there in the doorway listening to her and then when the song was over she looked up and he caught her eye. He nodded his head and smiled at her and she smiled a little back and went back to her drink. Walking back into the kitchen Eliot started singing to himself.
♫ "I'm a little lamb who's lost in the wood I know I could, always be good To one who'll watch over me
Although he may not be the man some Girls think of as handsome To my heart he carries the key
Won't you tell him please to put on some speed Follow my lead, oh, how I need Someone to watch over me" ♫
