The Big Musumeyaku Questionaire - filled out by a newbie

Dec 22, 2010 17:59

I'm a young Takarazuka fan and still comparatively new to the fandom (I was introduced to Takarazuka in January) and I have a lot to learn. Still, I'll do my best filling out the questionnaire.

name: Camsci (which is a nickname)
age: I just turned 18 last week
country: Germany

troupe loyalty: Currently Hoshigumi
favourite musumeyaku top star(s): I might be leaving out some real talents here, but as I said, I don't know nearly enough...so: Toono Asuka, Shirahane Yuri, Yumesaki Nene, Maikaze Rira, Ootori Rei
favourite musumeyaku non-top star(s): Miho Keiko! Itsumine Aki! Otohana Yuri!

favourite leading musumeyaku role(s):  Grushenka in The Brothers Karamazov, Marguerite in The Scarlet Pimpernel, Carmen in Jose & Carmen, Juliette in Roméo to Juliette
favourite supporting musumeyaku role(s): Lady Capulet in Roméo to Juliette, Ivan's devil in The Brothers Karamazov
role you would like to see a Takarazuka musumeyaku take on: Glinda and Elphaba in Wicked, though I realize Takarazuka would never, ever do Wicked. *sigh*

favourite musumeyaku solo(s):  Shirahane Yuri: Grushenka's solo in The Brothers Karamazov (does anyone know the name of the song?), Miho Keiko: practically everything she has ever sung, Ootori Rei: Watashi Dake Ni in Elisabeth, Toono Asuka: I'll forget you in The Scarlet Pimpernel, Otohana Yuri: Viento de Buenos Aires in The Wind of Buenos Aires
favourite musumeyaku stage name(s): Maikaze Rira!! Also Otohana Yuri and Ranno Hana
favourite golden combi(s): Yuzuki Reon and Yumesaki Nene, Asami Hikaru and Maikaze Rira, Mizu Natsuki and Shirahane Yuri

favourite heroine costume(s): Grushenka's white dress and her purple dress with fur trimming in The Brothers Karamazov, Elisabeth's coronation gown and every single bustle gown the various actresses have worn over the years during the madhouse scene and the scene shortly before Rudolph's suicide, Marguerites pale green gown, her ball gown and the dark purple one she wears during her reprise of "Hitokakera no Yuuki" in The Scarlet Pimpernel, Marquise's circus costume in Je t'aime, all of Juliette's dresses in Roméo to Juliette
favourite musumeyaku revue outfit(s): Maikaze Rira's "Noblewoman" in Dream Kingdom (come to think of it, the other "Noblewoman" costumes as well), all the female gypsies and the butterflies in Tarantella, Toono Asuka's duet dance dress at the end of The Scarlet Pimpernel, Shirahane Yuri's duet dance dress at the end of Elisabeth, Maikaze Rira's purple dress from Joyful!...I actually like most Musumeyaku Revue outfits, but these are the ones that stand out

likes: Musumeyaku costumes (OH YES!), Musumeyaku-exclusive dance scenes, full and strong voices singing comparatively low (like Miho Keiko...<'3), strong female roles with a personality that are not played by Otokoyaku, period dresses that are at least partially accurate
pet peeve(s): Hankyuu forcing the Musumeyaku to sing higher than their actual range (results in shrill singing that hurts my ears), Musumeyaku roles that require the actresses to act like three-year-olds (or in other words: to act kawaiiiii~ to the point of being unbearable), actresses that are too skinny, Hankyuu keeping the Musumeyaku in the background in favor of the Otokoyaku - as much as I adore the Otokoyaku, why don't the Musumeyaku receive equal treatment?
a piece of good advice for Hankyuu:...stop doing what I criticized above?

word is power:
Altough being a fan since early January 2010, I still consider myself a newbie - I seem to learn very slowly, don't know much shows yet and get a lot of things confused, that's why. I love both Otokoyaku and Musumeyaku, but in very different ways. You could say that while the Otokoyaku are everything I want (yes, I know how that sounds...because I mean it like that! :D), the Musumeyaku are everything I want to be.
