The Merlin/Arthur Drabble Awards - Fall 2010

Sep 26, 2010 12:37

As only a handful of nominations were made, this round has been canceled.
October is here-which means it is time to begin making nominations for the second round of the Merlin/Arthur Drabble Awards! This round will be a little different than the last: we will be extending the word limit and experimenting with a two-tier approach to voting. The first tier will encompass drabbles of 1-400 words. The second tier will encompass drabbles of 401-1,000 words. Two nominations per category will be required in order to be eligible for voting-but lone nominations for a category will receive honorable mention.

Schedule

Nominations Close: 25 October 2010
Voting Begins: 31 October 2010
Voting Closes: 1 December 2010
Winners Announced: 10 December 2010
Rules
  • All nominations must be 1,000 words or less.
  • All nominations must involve the Arthur/Merlin relationship in some way-pre-slash and friendship are allowed. Threesomes and romantic/sexual relationships with other characters are acceptable, provided that there is a particular emphasis on Arthur/Merlin.
  • You may nominate another person’s drabbles.
  • You may nominate your own drabble(s).
  • You may nominate as many drabbles as you like for each category.
  • You do not need to make your nominations all at the same time-make additional nominations whenever you like.
  • A single drabble may be nominated for as many categories as you deem appropriate-though three categories should generally be sufficient. Please use your discretion.
  • There is no cut-off date for drabble publication-newly published drabbles may be nominated right up until nominations close.
  • Winners of the Spring 2010 awards are not eligible for nomination in this round. The list may be found here.

How to Make a Nomination
  • First find drabbles you like. I recommend searching merlin100, merlin_ldws, merlin_tweetfic, kinkme_merlin, the drabble or ficlet tags at merlinxarthur, or sorting by pairing and word count at Archive of Our Own. The comment_fic community also has some fills for the Merlin fandom indexed here.
  • For each nomination, please indicate in a comment to this post: Category, Title, Authur, and URL. Your nominations will be screened.

  • Category: Title: Author: URL:

  • Remember: You don’t need to offer a nomination for each category-just nominate the drabbles you want to.
  • On the subject of tiers: You don’t need to indicate the word count in your nominations. Either I or any assistants I request help from will perform a word count check. However, you're welcome to use a word count tool to determine whether or not the story is 1,000 words or less.
Voting

Nominations will be divided into tiers (1-400 words and 401-1,000 words). Categories in each tier that have 2 or more entries will be voted upon. Lone nominations will receive honorable mention.

All nominations will be eligible for Best Overall Drabble.

Anonymous nominations are allowed, but anonymous votes will not be. More on this when voting time comes around.
