Were you in an accident?

The local DMV office might know something too.

Most Bizarre. On the one hand, it's linked from the official state motor vehicle site:

http://www.revenue.alabama.gov/motorvehicle/index.html

On the other hand, it's a dot com registered to an "owner hidden" based in the Canary Islands

Administrative Contact:
Domain Discreet
ATTN: alamli.com
Avenida do Infante 50
Funchal, Madeira 9004-521
PT
Phone: 1-902-7495331

At a guess, I'd say it's legit (due to the link from the official state page), and just implemented with the same care and competence we've come to expect from Alabama (making Florida look good by comparison since 1819)

so does one have to visit the canary islands to set this all up? Is there some sort of dude who is going to have me wacked for complaining that this isn't done here, in this state, etc. good murder mystery material?:)

No way they can penalize you for failing to do web access. Where does the form need to get mailed? I'd still contact the local DMV office and ask them.
