Since we'll be doing mom's 70th party on our anniversary we decided to go to Nawlins for Easter. It also helps me to go some where since *nowhine* i don't have kids and won't ever and don't get to buy easter baskets for kids, etc. I mean, how much stuff does bug need anyway? Okay so i got her a chapstick but she doesn't know that yet, and it's only one this time instead of a full card of 'em for her birthday. (which, we had to mail along with fizzy's b'day stuff since i had really hoped we could fly there, but we were not able to get toad away from the plant.)
It's pollen season. Achooooo so between sneezing, *again* and organizing mom's party and trying to be a traveller not a tourist i've slacked on the important things, like writing.
That point was made more than abundantly clear while on our vacation. Wow.
I don't know how to process it all let alone write it all out, but there is a great deal i have to say whether i want to do so or not. That's the scary part.
We had fun. We reallly did. We took pics of flip and grainne all over town and got in the middle of the road race and won 60 cents for toad and 1.87 for me for free parking. Hey, that's a great way to park! :) We walked and walked and toad got me an easter bonnet. Toad's going to post about the parade i think. C'mon, it's new orleans, of course there's a parade, this time the easter parade.
We dyed eggs last night, this is along the lines of 12 days of Christmas and 50 days of Easter, and you don't have to do everything the first day. Most folks do it the other way around, they decorate and celebrate before. Well, we aren't most folks and i was brought up very strictly in the RC. that's right, dunked in cola and eating moon (pies). Okay, no moon pies, really, i think they are disgusting, but hey, that leaves all the more for somebody else. I'd rather have salt or brownies or carrot cake or jailbird's sugar cookies.
BUG! i found a whole shaker of nifty stuff for you to shake on the cookies with toad this summer when y'all bake!!! Mr. Harris, please tell bug that! ;) Does bug have her own email yet? :)
Ain't nobody here but us chickens, aint nobody here at all. Aint nobody here but us chickens, we now have two chickens, Louis and Jordan.
So there was smoking. Lots of it. With the pollen, i can't take much of that, so evertime somebody was smoking and we could change streets and go round the corner in the quarter we did. And boy was the toad lucky! One of the streets is Chartre. It has a french pastry shoppe on it. Can we say toad was in croissant heaven? He was. The only thing that toad likes as much as croissants are bagels. Nothin better. Not even the holy hand grenade of antioch is as much fun as toad and a sausage or fruit filled or chocolate croissant and a cafe au lait.
Toad kept orbiting that street. It was funny. Fiorella's was closed both times we went there, so we went to coops instead. We also went on a city tour and the park ranger told us to head over to Johnny's po boys to get frog some eggs. Delicious and nutritious! We had to drag flip and grainne away from the hot sauce there, and at mulate's. Those two.... can't take 'em anywhere without them finding a cannon.
I found a new puffy!!! It's actually two, so they fit in the washer to replace the down. Toad and the 'feather' allergy as his mom called it.
At the Louisianna Music Factory the fun clerk who watched over Grainne and flip for me while i was looking for some kermit ruffians gave us two tickets to House of Blues. They wouldn't let toad in with his pocket knife so we had to go back, drop it off, and try again. We still got there in plenty of time to take a good look at the place (i'd never been inside, we always go to Preservation Hall, where we went friday night.)
We stayed at "The Queen and Crecent" and really liked not having to drive home in the dark. That was fabulous. Sunday we were going to head to the zoo, 'down at the zoo, they all ask for you....' but after the 1.87 winnings, and the bonnet, and photo session, and croissant tossing, and the egg explosion, we did not make it. We ran into Marc again, whom I thought i had bothered with my photo taking, but it hadn't bugged him at all.
