after updating otherjournal and pretty much word vomited how I felt about my life in oh-high-uh, maybe I should update this thing more.
i'm doing a lot more intensive stuff at work. i know, what is so intensive about working in a library? i had to file legal documents tonight from various reports aka shit-i-don't-understand-and-never-plan-on-understanding. but my manager said i was the only student worker he could trust to do it right so my ego went sky high.
i enjoy working until midnight only ONCE a week as opposed to twice. so nice to come home at 1AM and realize i don't have to do that all over again the next day. my coworker for that shift is really quiet and a law student so i can't yap and complain about stuff IE recruitment.
applied for another internship, its unpaid and i DON'T NEED SCHOOL CREDIT TO GET IT THANK FUCKING GOD. short story for those out of the loop. i interned this summer at a 24/7 radio station in downtown chicago (actually in the 3rd or 4th tallest building in the city). i took it for credit, therefore it counted as a class. i had to pay 1.5k in tuition. the class met twice. TWICE. and the first class was a short intro on assignments due week to week. the last class was a presentation on what we did at our internship. 99% of journalism internships in broadcast make you take the class for college credit. having an internship during the semester means you can't devote a lot of time to it. taking it in the summer is better. therefore i would need to pay 1.5k again to take one in the summer. for the tl;dr: broadcast internships require you take them for credit, which means i pay 1.5k in the summer. eff that man.
the internship i'm applying for is a newspaper/blog thing, hopefully I get it. we'll see. i submitted a published and unpublished writing sample, here's to hoping for something else to build up my resume +90000
classes are alright. they look easy. a lot more reading than last semester, but a lot less papers (so far). success. i know people in all of my classes except my interviewing for broadcast (WHICH IS TAUGHT HOW A FUCKING INTERVIEWING CLASS SHOULD UNLIKE MY LAST CLASS) but only 7 people so I understand.
i am obsessed with my finances now. suze orman and farnoosh torabi are really smart, farnoosh in particular when it comes to younger people and money. download suze orman book from oprah's website about what to do in 2009, it actually had advice for saving and about college debt that applied to me. success.
also for some reason i really want to go back and visit my high school. why? idk
we'll see how long i actually stick to updating.
