filming, lameness, and thoughts

Hey all - really am trying to participate in the filming a walk series, and dang it, it's not working great. Last weekend I took our Go-Pro camera (strapped to my chest) and we went on a hike in the redwood forest with the dogs. It was getting a bit late, so I knew it would be darkish in the forest, uh, yeah. But the worst part is that I can't ( Read more... )

Yay! I am looking forward to this video! You have a Go-pro? Dang. Dang. I want one so bad. Do you realise there is a direct relationship between how awesome your life is and number of days owning a Go-Pro? It's true.

So glad you are real blogging. MOstly because this post is extremely timely for me so thank! Very good thinking stuff. Very sad injuries though :( Do Americans say 'bugger'? It is ok to say 'bugger' when something is not going well here but I don't want to offend you accidently.

Selfcare, turns out I am not at all good at it. Most of my selfcare seems to have to revolve around bringing myself down a notch. I am like the anti-bigmellon. While she needs to up her learning and excitement I need to forcibly bore the hell out of myself. I have even banned myself from any learning post 9pm because I will get excited and wont sleep and wake up at 5am EXCITED for good reason at all!! Do you know how frustrating that is to wake excited about nothing!? It is so frustrating.

So my selfcare is all about not 'filling' my life and 'feeling' it instead. If something hurts, stop, feel what that feels like, proceed only after I feel that panic slow down. Massage is awesome for this. It puts me in that head space. Baths are ok too. Thoughtfully massaging one of the dogs can do it as well. Tell everyone I can't see them for a week because I am weird.

I say BUGGER! No offense given... what does it mean in Australian? As for self-care, that's interesting. I also have to shut down, ramp down. As for being excited about nothing, what does that really mean? Sounds like you are excited for learning :) maybe just for being alive and having firing neurons. That's a good reasonto be excited, but yeah, if it ruins your sleep - bugger!

I find that massaging Teague helps me - cool. It's being focused and trying to connect with him, and take care of him I think that slows me down. I hadn't thought about that.... thanks.
