A few weeks ago I had a great weekend at Central Point, and I wasn't sure if it was a fluke. I got where I was supposed to be most of the time and Kept MY MOUTH SHUT (well, most of the time). That was huge for me. And, it was nice to actually Q, I mean, really. I can go many trials without Qing - with some lovely runs, but always a bar down, or something else. So, it was nice to actually put it all together.
So, I had a trial in Santa Rosa, the Irish Setter Trial, last weekend, and was interested to see if performing better was just a fluke. It was NOT. I actually held it together a fair amount of the time.
Here's our Standard from Friday - a nice fast run and a win. Good boy. (I can't figure out how to do the embed video link - not working, suggestions?)

Here's our last day Jumper and Standard.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZqGVzEuzNY&feature=channel&list=UL I think I've relatively given up on having tight turns; (not counting where I get in a late FC cue). Teague does acceleration, not decel too well. I have been working it and it has gotten better, for instance, if I really decel, he pays attention and might pull off a jump, which is major for him, and I always reward for that. AND, getting him to turn tightly when launched, very difficult. Guess what I'll be working on with Flyte?
I always wonder how much faster he'd be if he could turn and not add all those extra strides. I'd be in real trouble then :)
Oh, a total non-sequiter, but something that has bugged me for a while. I figured out why so many reported YPS's are really weird to me- for instance clubs saying people had combined YPS of over 11 secs per yard, while other clubs report a much lower number. I believe you are supposed to add the YPS of standard and Jww together and then DIVIDE by 2 - which gives you the average YPS over the two courses. A combined (simply added score) doesn't really make sense, I don't think.... especially when you then look at the required scores for AKC WT tryouts. 4.00 YPS for Standard, and 5.40 for JWW (both for large dogs) Maybe I'm wrong, could be, I'm often wrong :). Thoughts appreciated...
