Bedroom shuffle

One of the things I have had on my to-do list for this summer is to get a new bed and move into the master bedroom, letting the other bed be the guest bed. After weeks of dithering about getting a bed, it's finally done! The new bed is heavenly. In case you are in the market for a new bed, one way to save some money is to try a bunch of matresses in the stores to see what sort of bed you like, and then order it (or something like it) online. Foam-type matresses are popular these days, but I went for the tried-and-true innerspring. So far I am very happy with it, as is my back. And, because it's a big bedroom I went for a king-sized bed. I feel like a queen with all that room! It's almost too decadent.

There are a few glitches, number one being that adorable kitty Chloe claimed the master bedroom as hers some time ago, and I have now messed with her space. She likes the new bed well enough, but having her routine disrupted has unsettled her. Her chairs aren't where they're supposed to be, and now I'm sleeping in there instead of her. I have taken the precaution of draping old blankets around the sides of the bed in case she tries to mark it, and I did catch her backing up to it once. It kind of sucks to have my brand-new bed draped in ugly blankets, but it's better than having it sprayed. We'll figure it all out eventually. The other cat, Graybar, gets the other bedroom to himself now, without me kicking him out when I go to bed. Score 1 for Graybar!

In other furniture news, my sister is doing some remodeling of her condo down the street, which she plans to move into next month after having rented it out for years. When she asked if she could have some items delivered to my place, I said sure, no problem. And it isn't, generally. Except when her entire closet system gets delivered to the doorstep and is heavy as crap. I texted her and was like, dude, wtf? She apologized, and assures me that the guy who will install it will come and get it when it's time to install it. In the meantime, there are LOTS of boxes in the livingroom.

In non-furniture news, I made blackberry jam with last year's blackberries that were in the freezer. I think it turned out a bit sweet, but still delicious. Less sugar next time, maybe.
