slumber party, anyone?

I just had one of the worst weeks ever, and I'm just trying to put it out of my mind and not think about it. You know what helps?

Brendon: my arms are killing me and i can still taste salt water. i need a little more, i think, bc enough is never quite enough.

Ugh, this boy. I was actually a bit worried when he got Twitter, because I have a pretty high embarrassment squick factor, but oh, Brendon. So adorable. I love the idea of Brendon being kind of insatiable, having so much fun surfing that he can't quite bring himself to stop, until he's exhausted and shivering and his bandmates have to drag him in.

When I was first getting into bandom a few months ago, one of the things I really liked was the potential for new canon any time. No waiting for next Tuesday night when the show is on, or next year when the book comes out - at any potential minute of any potential day, they could post a blog entry or someone could post pictures or whatever, and surprise!canon. I was impressed at the time. Now it's more like insta!canon, or perhaps canon-on-demand; I don't follow the twitters, so every once in a while when I'm in the mood for new canon, I'll click over and lo, there it is, sleepovers and surfing and SO MUCH POTENTIAL for fic.

Speaking of: Jon is sleeping over at Brendon's, and apparently Shane is there, and they're all surfing together? In general I'm all about the Brendon/Spencer, but lately I've been craving Brendon/Jon like crazy. Especially if they're surfing, and Brendon's really good, and Jon's probably... well, not quite as good, Chicago boy that he is, and ends up spending most of his time relaxing on the beach (and he and Brendon build a totally awesome sandcastle) and photographing Brendon. And Brendon is showing off, of course, partly because it's what he does (he just likes being good at things) and partly because he wants Jon to think he's cool. So he surfs all afternoon, until he's sore and exhausted and sunburnt, and Jon hints that maybe he should take a break. But Brendon is having too much fun, and the waves are perfect, and he likes the way it feels when he does something particularly impressive and Jon is standing there in the sand with a thumbs up and a big grin, so he keeps on going out for "just one more, Jon, just one more."

Until he does a particularly impressive faceplant, and Jon is actually a little worried for a moment until Brendon resurfaces, spitting out salt water and coughing. Even after that Brendon looks like he might head out again (he doesn't want to end the day on a sour note), so Jon wades in and grabs him and marches him back to the car and they drive home and stop for pizza on the way, and Jon gets all of Brendon's favorite toppings (even olives, and Brendon knows Jon hates olives), and Brendon grins and grins and asks, "wasn't this an awesome day?" Jon says, "the awesomest," and grins back, and Brendon loves this guy so much that his chest aches with it. He has to talk about something else or he'll start talking about how he feels, so he starts chattering about anything and everything else, the sun and the waves and the guy with the Labrador that tore up the towel. He chatters on and on in the car until suddenly he stops talking altogether and Jon looks over and Brendon's asleep, his head scrunched up against the window. Jon reaches out and puts one hand on Brendon's shoulder, and drives the rest of the way home just like that.
