Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Like all nations, England is near immortal. So long as his land and people who name themselves as English exist, he will exist as well. With being a nation comes a certain hardiness above that of humans, his endurance, strength and ability to heal are all above average though not by much. This is also affected by his economical wellbeing. Still, he can probably survive any wound, short of getting his head cut off or something similarly extreme.

In addition to this, England possesses magic and can see the supernatural in all forms, such as ghosts, spirits, fairies and other mythical creatures most cannot due to his citizens still retaining a strong belief in magic even in the modern age. Other nations however put this down to England being delusional (though in canon France and Norway have been shown to be able to see them as well, proving that they are real). His skills in magic are shown to be a little erratic though; once when he meant to summon a terrifying demon to set on Germany, he called up Russia instead, much to his own terror.

Given his long life and existence as a nation, England is well versed in warfare, from medieval up to modern day. He can wield a sword and gun with equal effectiveness and is experienced with battlefield tactics from large organised forces to guerilla combat.

Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? I'd like for England's magic to become more effective, as in it'll actually do what he intends it to do more often than the other way around. Forms this will take include; summoning (small objects only), scrying (using mediums such as water or pendulums to find the location of people/objects). Any spells he uses, such as charms or curses, will never last more than a day.

Weapons: None on his person at the time he arrives.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: Hetalia Wikia | Official History | Timeline

Once upon a time there was a rainy little group of islands off the coast of western Europe, on one of the island's lived the tiny nation known then as Albion. A scruffy, wild child made up of tribal Celts, he was constantly being picked on by his older siblings who for some reason that's never explored didn't much like little Albion from the get go. Maybe they simply liked to fight as brothers and sisters often do.

Then in 43 A.D little Albion was conquered by the great Empire of Rome, who renamed him to Britannia. Having been cut off from his older siblings Wales and Scotland, Britannia found himself going through the interesting process of being 'civilised' by Roman sensibilities. It was also under Rome's rule that he first met the other nation who would become his lifelong rival, France.

Eventually Rome's influence began to fade, as his Empire overstretched itself and corruption ruined him from within, Rome was attacked by various nations outside his Empire and was forced to abandon his outlying territories in an attempt to save his life that would eventually prove futile.

Young Britannia was left alone, though he would never be able to shake off Rome's influence; in architecture, culture, a growing religion called Christianity (which he never really took well as he preferred his fairy friends) and his dream to one day become a great empire himself, so that no one could ever bully him again. Without Rome's protection of course his brothers immediately set in on him again, overrunning Hadrian's wall and the great things Rome had built in his land started to fall into ruin.

Britannia's luck being what it was, over the following centuries he was invaded by the Saxons and then raided by Vikings, though luckily a pretty cool guy named Alfred became King of Wessex, doing quite a bit to drive off the Nordic raiders and unite the people into one nation, though the Vikings would still hold influence and settlement in the British Isles for many years. It was at that point that Britannia truly began to take on the name England and gain his national identity.

After one more successful invasion (this time by the Normans in 1066), England decided he'd had enough. Shaking off French rule shortly after, he grew up to become a conquerer himself. England took over first his brothers and sister, then other territories throughtout the world, he split from the Catholic Church to make his own and was a pirate stealing Spanish gold for his Queen in the late Sixteenth Century, a regular teenage punk.

He calmed down eventually, particuarly because of the young colonies who came under his care, like America and Canada. The former's eventual revolution hurt him, making him colder for a while, sending him to pursue his ambitions even more. The British Empire became the greatest the world had ever seen, hitting its peak in 1921 before dwindling throughout the Twentieth Century.

In the past century England has gone through many changes, includin; two World Wars, numerous social, political and ethical reforms, making 'friends' with old enemies, reuniting with America and watched the decline of his Empire -- though he still has a symbolic union with his Commonwealth under the British Crown. While no longer the great imperial power he once was, England continues to command a lot of influence in the world.

Point in Canon: Modern-Day, specifically shortly after the end of the 2010 World Cup.
Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history: n/a

Character Personality: England would like you to believe he is a gentleman, he really would. He's very polite, dignified, charming, gentile... at least until you either piss him off or put a drink in his hand. As civilised as he tries to appear, England will always be a pirate underneath it all with a hunger for adventure, violence and gold. Give him a drink or two (and believe me, that's all it will take, England is a lush) and he goes right back to being the teenage delinquent he once was. He's also got something of a potty mouth which will make itself known at the slightest provocation.

Tsundere is often a term attributed to England and one that fits very well. He is prickly, obtuse, cynical and scathing on the outside, unwilling to show his real feelings. He's emotionally repressed, which is partly a lasting effect from the Victorian era he went through and partly from his own fear of being vulnerable. A lot of his early life was spent being bullied, conquered and taunted by others, leading him to be very defensive of himself, he would rather remain politely distant than risk getting close and suffering for it later. It makes him a difficult person to get to know properly as getting through his defences takes time and perserverence from whoever is attempting to do so.

Underneath it all however, England is a romanticist, a great lover of stories and boasts a library of impressive literature written by his citizens. Many of his traditional stories are romantic ones (often with tragic endings). Starved of affection through his life, England secretly hungers for something genuine but usually can't allow himself to take the risk it would involve. Sometimes he will be genuinely nice to someone (generally on the sly), but when confronted about these gestures will stubbornly deny them.

This need for affection can make him clingy and something of a mother hen when he does get attached, as was seen through his vast collection of colonies in his empire which he eventually ended up losing. The most notable example is the incident with America, where England's overbearing control spurred the young nation to revolution and ended with the two of them barely speaking to each other for over a century.

Notable for his stubborness, England takes a lot to break down, 'carrying on' no matter what is going on around him. His stiff upper lip has enabled him to weather many crises. Challenge England to a staring contest and he'd probably pin his eyes open with needles if that's what it took to win.

In the modern day however, he has softened a little. When he's not attending world meetings a lot of his spare time is spent pursuing gentler hobbies, such as embroidery, knitting, gardening, literature and... punk rock music (okay, so not every hobby is gentle). He likes nothing better than a nice afternoon tea or an evening sat in the pub watching the footie on telly while reminiscing on past glories.

Conditional: Personality development in previous game: n/a
Character Plans: Undecided as of yet but England will likely end up joining one of the organisations in an attempt to facilitate getting himself home.
