The truth is softer when it's a metaphor.

Today is fresh- green like the first sprout. It’s a blessing to feel this hopeful upon waking. Tiny hopes they may be, but they are exactly what I need to make it through this day.

My life mirrors the seasons. I am small and green today, but I’ll soon grow. I’ve been living in the snow queen’s palace of ice for far too long. She thought herself a goddess, but everyone can see that there’s nothing but empty frozen stones where her heart should be. Don’t try to save her. She thinks she is enlightened. She lives inside a globe and she thinks it’s the whole wide world. She thinks the tiny dust that’s swirling around her is snow. She thinks the green sprouts are hers to trample on.

Spring is a time to start afresh- to let the ice melt, and to leave behind whatever you lost in the blizzard. You let go, and you continue along your journey, seeking the generous sun. You shed a few dead layers and you grow a little stronger, a little smarter, a little greener each year.

metaphor, green, hope, spring
