My friend Gina is the pastry chef at Babbo, Mario Batali's flagship restaurant in New York. I've adored her and her desserts for a long time, and I'm hysterically excited that her first cookbook is finally out! It's called Dolce Italiano, Desserts from the Babbo Kitchen.

There's all sorts of really interesting desserts--wonderful cookies (the Mosaic Biscotti are to die for), tarts, cakes, gelato and semifreddo, pastries, fruit desserts, and some savory pastries. She's also a really gifted writer, and I learned a lot about ingredients, regions, and techniques.
Buy one for yourself, and another to give as a gift!
