Keep Calm and Have Hope?!
Dear Hope,
I love you. But I do not love that you are appearing on Dancing With The Stars. At all. This is very traumatic for me, Hope. Because I do not like the idea of you, a tremendous and dedicated athlete, going on a show that could take away from your training and potentially put you in line for another injury, just when you're really starting to mend your shoulder.
Yes, Hope, I do believe that women's soccer needs help in the promotional department. Hell, men's soccer too, in this country. But I'm not sure this is the way to do it. You guys got famous and got buzz from your incredible play on the pitch and for your incredible heart. I think it's a good idea to stick with what's worked.
But, you are Hope Solo, perennial badass, and you're going to do what you're going to do. Just please promise that you will take extra care not to hurt or break anything when you're dancing in those ridiculously impractical dancing shoes. And post a shut out against Canada in the September friendlies before I freak the fuck out at that damn show.
Again, I still love you. (And I even kind of love that you're crazy enough to go on this damn show.)
