Just because I didn't enjoy "Wuthering Heights" doesn't make me a heathen or anything! MOST of that literature that they forced down our throats was truly forgettable, at least to me. I couldn't STAND "Robinson Crusoe." Or "Pamela". Or, honestly, any of the books by any of the Bronte sisters. They're just boring, to me.
Now, I DID love "Huck Finn." And I actually loved Shakespeare's "Midsomer Night's Dream" And "Hamlet."
But largely? I couldn't have cared less about what they forced us to read.
So I love that contemporary novels are being included in the literature programs in many middle and high schools. Hopefully it'll help to create lifelong readers.
Hey Phil, I hope I didn't offend you. I really really didn't mean to.
It's just that the hype around the Twilight books and movies just gets to me. And I just don't get the fascination.
But I don't have anything against those who do love it all. It just confuses me.
But I actually DO think that Kristen Stewart is a good actress. I have no doubt at all that she did great in the role. I saw the trailer on...some website (I now have NO idea where I was!), and she did really well, acting without speaking. Which is supposed to be much harder than using dialogue. (Which of course always makes me think about Ryan in the first few eps of The OC and how AMAZING Benjamin McKenzie was at acting with just his EYES, even...)
Don't worry you didn't offend me. I completely understand where you're coming from- most of my friends don't like twilight. I just love the characters and the fact Bella and Edward will be in love forever- so nice. I'm a sucker for sweet love stories.
I'd be interested to hear how you find Kristen's acting in "speak" as a non twilight fan. I was very impressed :)
