'tis the (fall) season

Yes folks, it is that time of year again. Time for me to dust off my folding chairs, fluff out my gold tablecloths, and invite a bunch of friends to gather around the table to celebrate the season. My friends, it is time to Feast!

This year, I opted for a slightly simpler menu than typical, since I like to go all-out and push my culinary skills to the limit when Feast rolls around. But I figured an upscale twist on simple, hearty, soul-soothing comfort food would really hit the spot for everyone. So here's what I'm making:

Harvest Salad
**Tart cranberries, crisp apples, mandarin slices and creamy feta cheese, drizzled with a tangy vinaigrette, atop a bed of baby spinach

Creamy Corn Chowder
**Just what the name says... don't ask how much butter and cream go into this one!

Best Beef Stew
**Tender flap meat, fingerling potatoes, butternut squash and more in a thick, rich beef base

Turkeyherder's Pie
**Not your grandma's shepherd's pie - made with ground turkey and a few cleverly-disguised veggies, topped with smashed purple potatoes

Artichoke/Green Bean Casserole
**Again, a big departure from tradition - a creamy, cheesy combination of veggies with a crispy panko crust

Eggplant "Steaks"
**Hearty slices of the purple plant, seasoned and grilled

Honeybutter Cornbread
**'nuff said

Apple Crisp
**Is there a more comforting combination than warmth and cinnamon?

Lemonberry Cupcakes
**Cool citrus cupcakes, generously iced, with a bite of bright raspberry on top

Hungry now?

Good!

Dinner starts at 4:30! :)
