OK, let's see if my post works this time! I have been trying to post comments and entries since last week with no such luck. It was totally hit and miss with the comments and sometimes they would post, sometimes not. It has absolutely sucked. So, I'm sorry I haven't been commenting... it was amusing timing since I finally was feeling a little better early on in the evening and all excited to get caught up and post. Ah, the irony of life.
Well, my poor husband opted to say goodbye to his beloved husky room last weekend. This room was such an eyesore ladies. I'm sure I have a photo somewhere and I should try to find one. The walls were this bright, goldenrod, anxiety-causing yellow and the ceiling was an unbelievably dark shade of purple. Bleh. Of course, the room was completely filled with Husky memoribilia (mostly football related). Imagine my surprise when Brad said to me last week that he wanted to paint the husky room that weekend. Well, who am I to argue? So, we went ahead and pulled the trigger and zipped over to Merry Go Round in Bellevue to buy the crib sheet and skirt. We're not doing the whole bedding set thing because of safety reasons. Plus, it saves us some money that I can apply to some other fun expense (can you say stroller?).
So, we went with the Dwell Chocolate Dots. Here's a photo but we actually bought the sheet in the stripe material and the skirt in the dot material so it's a little different then this photo and the amusing part is that I have a bolt of fabric I bought about a year and a half ago that I used to make an upholstered picture board (you know, one of those with criss-crossing ribbons on it to hold photos and cards and whatnot) that is nearly identical to what the shades in the photo are made out of! How funny is that? Me thinks I'll be hitting up my talented mother to see if she'd whip up some roman shades for us.
So, with the bedding in hand we went and selected paint at Home Depot (Toasted Almond is what we went with from Behr) and I already had this shimmer paint for use in making the stripes (it's called Pearlescent by Behr Premium Paint) :
Here's the room all taped off and ready for the shiny stripes to be added:
Here's Brad (in his insanely horrific painting ensemble... it cracks me up, particularly the hat):
The finished product in the daylight earlier this week:
And, here's the view out of one of the windows of the nursery (there are two) and I'm not sure why it looks so hazy:
We're pretty happy with how the paint came out!
Oh, and since I mentioned dumping a wad on a stroller~ here's the stroller that both Brad and I are have our eye on (Xplory by Stokke) and we both are liking the color red too I think:
We like that baby can be up nice and high instead of down low and you can have it forward facing or rear facing:
And it does have the bassinet for use in the earlier months:
When you're out and about the stroller actually doubles as a high chair since it can be up so high:
The price tag is steep to say the least but we're saving quite a bit on furniture and other items by purchasing through Direct Buy so I wouldn't be surprised if we splurge on this. ;o)
