First off... I'm pissed off because LJ just ate my last entry that took me forever to write! Grrr!
But, on to the fun stuff!
I know I've mentioned lately some of our recent furniture purchases and I thought it was about time I posted some photos!
First, we purchased a chair from Crate and Barrel. We were thrilled to have our monetary contribution to the purchase minimized by numerous gift cards and gift returns~ gotta love it. The chair is called "Cabriole" and looks like this on their website:
And like this in our living room:
The chair is perched on the outskirts of our living room while I wait for Brad to "do away" with two of his old couches. One of these couches everyone calls "The Pheasant Couch" and I hate it with a passion. He has had it for a decade and is the definition of trashy college furniture. Seriously. Here's a picture of its horrific fabric:
Please tell me... when the hell was this ever considered a lovely addition to any room? Ick. The truly pathetic thing is that I think Brad loves how much I hate it. I also think he has some odd amount of pride that he's managed to hang on to such an atrocious item for so long. Even his parents loathe it.
On to another subject... We also purchased a sectional and ottoman from Macy's this past Monday. Here I am sitting upon the one at the store:
This one is like a celadon green color. We ordered ours in a chamois color that I really like! It'll take 10-12 weeks for it to be delivered though since I didn't select either of the "stock fabrics." Poo. The ottoman will be in the same chamois color and looks like this:
Brad was making fun of me because as he paid for the sectional and ottoman I wandered the store and found another chair I want. We are "in the market" for another chair to complete our living room and the tush factor on the one I found was superb! ;o) But, after shelling out the money for these purchases I'll be waiting until next month at least to order something else. Plus, I don't want to fall into the trap of purchasing things because I feel like I have to. I am one of those shoppers who completely will buy something if I feel any sense of urgency at all and I know that is the WRONG reason to buy things. Whatever.
I've also been waiting on some items from Pottery Barn so that I can tackle painting and retiling the bathroom which currently looks like this (my apologies for the rotten photo):
The toilet, sink, cabinets, etc. are all to the right. Yesterday I got this mirror via mail (but larger):
and we are waiting on the new sconces arrival which is the triple sconce base with round flared glass shades:
I'm thinking I will either paint the bathroom a much lighter shade of beige or a browny-sage color like this:
What do you gals think?
I think I'm going to either white wash or completely just paint the cabinetry white. The only cabinetry in the bathroom is that over the toilet and under the sink. Here's the one over the toilet (fascinating isn't it?):
And add new knobs to it. By the way... pardon the mess. With the focus on our bedroom and living room I've been neglecting every other room (and, notice the magazine page tacked to the wall? Every time I find "inspiration" in a magazine I go pin it right where I'd want to make that potential change).
To tile or not to tile... that is the question!
The bathroom floor and the countertop around the sink are both tiled with this beige toned tile that is approximately 2" x 2":
The toilet, bath tub and sink are all a beige color as well. So, here is my question: DO I LEAVE THE TILE? I don't know if I should change the tile color to white to brighten up the space or what? HELP!!! I would seriously love some advice, opinions, guidance on this one. What do you gals think I should do on this one? I'm thinking I will totally tackle this bathroom when I'm on winter break in December if I can hold off that long. Otherwise I'm sure I'll be elbow deep in paint and grout mid-November since I'm such an "instant gratification" sort of person. ;o)
Lastly, I finally received the quilt I'd ordered on Ebay to complete our bedding and it truly does look EXACTLY like the photo online now that it's all together (except that our monogram is different of course):
OK, that was really, really long! :o)
